Hawaii in December

I have tried to read every post about Hawaii, but I haven't seen anyone talk about the weather during the 'winter'. I know it rains more and is a bit cooler, like 80 instead of 88 in the summer, but I am paranoid about spending all that money to go on a beautiful beach honeymoon, only to be rained on and have it be too cool to go in the pool or ocean.  My wedding is December 26th, so we'll be leaving a couple days after for about 10 days (I hope). Can anyone who has been to Hawaii in December/January comment on their experience?  Or point me to the post that I missed if it was already discussed.  TIA!!! Oh and thanks to everyone for their super suggestions on islands and hotels.

Re: Hawaii in December

  • WELL....we just booked the flights, so no turning back now.  I'm crossing my fingers for minimal rain and lots of sun: )Meghan, which islands are you going to for your HM?  We have decided to have New Year's on Oahu and then have the rest of the HM on Maui.
  • MrsNFB - you are the best!!  Thanks so much for the suggestions.  We are specifically staying 3 nights in Waikiki so we can be there for New Year's Eve.  I was trying to find out the happenings for the big night, but no luck, and now we're set.  Thanks again!!

No prob, hope it helps! Something else we started as a little tradition a few years ago is getting massages at the JW Marriott Ihilani on New Years Day.  It's my fave spa on Oahu located on the west coast of the island in Ko'Olina.  It's very private, in a gated community.  We follow up our massage with dinner at Roy's Restaurant across the street at the golf club.  Ko'Olina is about a 45 minute drive from Waikiki but a totally different world...it's the reason I really love Oahu, it really has it all. http://www.ihilani.com/:)
