name on passport vs name on tickets

Our honeymoon was a gift from my MIL and FIL. They put my married name on the travel details, but my passport is still under my maiden name.Do you think this will be ok?

Re: name on passport vs name on tickets

  • No, it won't be ok for your flight.  You need to get the tickets changed to match the name on your passport.  Call the airlines immediately and make the change.  For the hotel, you may not have an issue, but you'll want to call them just to confirm this anyway.
  • The problem with showing a marriage license here is that if you're going on HM right after the wedding, you will not yet have the valid license.  As everyone else has said, the names must match, so see if you can get it changed ahead of time.
  • Actually, it depends.  I'm assuming you are traveling to another country.  If that's the case, yes, your name needs to match.  However, if you are traveling within the US you do NOT need to show ID to board  a flight.  Believe it or not, you can refuse and just go through additional screening and be OK.  My SIL had her wallet stolen while on vacation and didn't have any IDs with her.   I called the airline and learned there is no law that states you need to show ID to board a flight.  And then on that TV show "Homeland Security" a passenger decided to test this out and sure enough, they just ran him through extra screening.Just a little FYI.
