inclusive vs. Resort hotels

Do you think allinclusive hotels(occidental or rui) in Aruba are worth the extra $200 a night or can you stay at a hotel like the Bucuti and have the option of dining around and paying similar to less a day?

Re: inclusive vs. Resort hotels

  • you can do what ever appeals to you more.in aruba i didn't do AI and was ok with it as there are good restaurants around. if I did do AI i still wouldn't have eaten all of my meals there-i like to see what's around.i'm not crazy about aruba though-so im not super enthusiastic about it. either way is fine-if's a personal choice.

  • Alithebride, why didn't you like Aruba? I would love opinions from others who have been. We really need to decide on a location soon and are having so much trouble deciding,

  • My FI is not a fan of Aruba...his parents have a time share there. He said it is flat, dry and looks like Phoenix. We wanted Palm trees and flowers. He has a picture of himself in a t-shirt that is covered with brown dust from the wind on the streets when they walked to a golf course! But, to answer your question, we aren't big drinkers so AI is not important to us at all.. We prefer to tour around and eat the local flair!
  • I found it to be HMcentral. seemed like one big extension of the US wedding industry. I felt that it was lacking it's own personality. I can't say that anything was particularly bad-it just really lacked that special isalnd feeling-know what I mean? Islands have their own flavors and feelings-aruba just felt flat and it annoyed me to no end that everyone kept askign 'are you on your HM'. that was irritating. we weren't. we'd already been married for a while. and to the pp-aruba is a desert island-LOL wrong place for jungles and tons of foliage :)
