HELP!!! Ideas Please!!!

We are looking to take a short, 5 days honeymoon to somewhere inexpensive. We are looking for somewhere that has a nice balance between relaxation and things to do. Thanks!

Re: HELP!!! Ideas Please!!!

  • Where at are you located in the US? We live in Nebraska and are going on a week long road trip honeymoon.
  • One resort that I really like is Dreams Villamagna. The resort sounds like it is exactly what you are looking for. You can lounge by the pool or beach all day and not move a muscle, while the wait staff brings you a cool drink and a tasty snack. You can also participate in the many activities they offer including big screen movies on the beach, a bicycle tour, snorkeling, cocktail classes, themed dinners and nightly shows. The good thing about stay at Dreams is that you can earn nights towards an anniversary stay. I hope you enjoy your honeymoon!
  • I got engaged in Disney too!  And I got that pin!
  • I highly recommend the Riviera Maya in Mexico.  It's rather inexpensive especially since most resorts are All-Inclusive (all meals, drinks and tips are included).  Basically you should just buy a "package that includes air, hotel and your transfers to/from airport" and you're all set.  Resorts I recommend include:Valentin Imperial MayaThe RoyalRiu Palace MexicoDreams Riviera CancunI just mentioned to someone else, if you're going to this area I would book on www.deals2cancun.com .  They have great All-Inclusive (mostly) packages and you get a 10% cash back rebate when you get back.  They are just packages from Apple or Funjet Vacations that are even more discounted and cutting into the site's commission.  It's an awesome deal.If you want more info on resorts I would go to www.tripadvisor.com for reviews and such.
  • I'm not sure where you are from and what you like to do, but I just got back from Michigan's Upper Peninsula and it is GORGEOUS. There are beaches with AMAZING sunsets, lighthouses, copper mines, Mackinac Island, and a ton of other things to do. If you go, you should definitely visit Tahquamenon Falls which is absolutely gorgeous and I believe the second largest (only to Niagara Falls) waterfall east of the Mississippi. Good luck planning!
  • Hi! It's kinda hard to tell you where to go b/c I have no idea where you live!!! However, if you are in or near New York, I suggest going to the Mountain house in Mohonk. It's absolutely beautiful there. The rooms are a little pricy but if you're driving there, then you have no airfare. It's a really old hotel that was actually built into a mountain and they have expanded on it as well. There are tons on outside porches to relax on, and you can take a long or short hike up the mountain (which is very romantic) b/c there are all these little places to stop along the way, with many gazebos. Also there is a sweet little lake that you and your hubby can take a row boat out onto. (I love having my man row me around a lake). You can also go swimming there, get a message, take a yoga class for free and do lots of other things. The grounds have the most magnificent rose gardens and lots of other types of flowers. This place is truly worth going to.. you will not be disappointed I promise you!! There is also a golf coarse and I think tennis courts too. You could probably do horseback riding as well. It's about 2 hours or so north of Manhattan by car. Again i don't know where you're coming from, but it would be worth the drive if you're anywhere close to N.Y. Good luck.. if you are interested, just google Mohonk mountain house, New York. Congrats!!!!
  • It would help if you'd mention A) Where you're located B) How far you're willing to travel C) What your idea of inexpensive is
  • She lives in Jacksonville FL, I looked at her profile. No idea on my end
  • Cruises can be inexpensive and all inclusive. Just get a room without a view, and it can be as cheap as $500 per person for a week. Maybe a trip to St. Augistine? (sp?) There seemed like a nice balance of things to do there. I went and spent days at the beach and nights in the town going to restaurants and on tours. New Orleans can be romantic and if you go in the off-season (summer through Christmas) hotels can be VERY inexpensive. Savannah, Georgia will give you the same time of romantic vibe. Also, Sandals resorts can be cheap. Hope this helps!
  • Why not a cruise, since you are already in Florida you wouldn't have to travel much and there are a lot of inexpensive ones. Also the Mexican Riviera, it is so beautiful, and you would have a ton of activities to do, also like it was mentioned already, make sure you get an all-inclusive.
  • There are a lot of 5 day cruises that go all sorts of places including Mexico, the Bahamas, and US virgin islands. DH and I just recently returned from ours and it was a blast. They can be as active or relaxing as you want it to be really. Plus all you can eat food and 24 hour room service for no extra cost! Cruising is pretty economical especially if you don't have to pay for plane tickets and can just drive to the port

  • My FI and I are thinking about going to Washington D.C. for a week long honeymoon. There's plenty of relaxing B&B's and plenty of historical activities to do all over. You can make the lodging and activities be as expensive/inexpensive as you want!
  • There are a ton of all-inclusive resorts in Mexico (Riviera Maya is the Cancun side, or Cabo for the Baja side). They are super affordable...my husband and I are going on a delayed honeymoon for 5 nights and everything including plane tickets is about 2000. Since it's all inclusive, you don't have to worry about much extra spending money, except for excursions, etc. Either of these areas has plenty of shopping, water activities (parasailing, jetskiiing, snorkeling, scuba), outdoor activities (canopy tours, dolphin encounters, ancient ruin tours), and spa stuff. There's usually cool places like tequilarias, etc. I think overall Mexico will get you the most bang for your buck, and these Mexico resorts are really hurting for business! I'd stay away from big names like Sandals. I"m sure they are super nice but over twice as expensive in most cases! Go to tripadvisor.com to find good deals and other people's opinions on different resorts!
  • We are going to Costa Rica, really inexpensive, and PLENTY of realxing beaches, and lots of zip linning, and volcanos to visit. I think it's perfect for couples like us that want a bit of both and cheap!   Hope this helps!

  • Why not go to the Keys? It will be a beautiful, sunny 80 degrees in January.
  • I've heard the Dominican Republic has great all inclusive packages.  I know theres a hotel at Rincon, Puerto Rico that a lot of people go there for their honeymoon but I don't know how expensive that is.
  • Check out vacationstogo.com and travelzoo.com. They both offer fantastic vacation deals. We booked our honeymoon with vacationstogo.com and seriously saved about 50%. You should see what they have to offer. Good luck!
  • We are going to Destin for our honeymoon.  We are getting married in two weeks so it will still be warm there and we can drive (we live in GA).  WE got a great deal on a 2 bedroom condo on the water by using VRBO.com (vacation rental by owner).  They have properties all over! Good luck!
  • I highly recommend Blue Ridge Mountain Inn outside of Charlotteville, VA if you like the mountains. OMG the family that runs the place is so phenomenally sweet, their breakfast is amazing, and their rooms are gorgeous (esp. the Mountain Spring room)! They are also potters, and have a pottery studio just down the road from the B&B. If you go at the right time of year, you can also catch some of their pottery classes. My FI have stayed there twice and loved it more with every minute. (Tell them Alyssa & Brian from Florida sent you, they might just remember us.) They can recommend some great hikes for you, and there's also a whole slew of fantastic vineyards in the area. My personal favourites are Prince Michel (outstanding port!) and Barbersville (could be spelled differently). And then Charlottesville isn't too far away, so you can go mill around their cute downtown area. I recommend Bizou for dinner one night, and there's a place where you can make your own glass art/creations! Much like the paint-your-own-pottery places, but I felt it was so much more fun. They'll ship your masterpieces to your house when they're done, too. And so much more! Can you tell I love that area? :) For those who said they were going to DC - you MUST eat at Acadiana! One of my favourite restaurants. Ever. We go out of our way to eat there whenever we're in the DC area. It's Louisiana cuisine, but not low-country boil type of food; it's very, very classy.
