Connecticut Honeymoon - anyone??

We're looking for a honeymoon area where we can stay in a quiet, possibly remote area in Connecticut but still be close enough to travel to a few larger cities including NYC.  Does anyone - possibly from that area - know where we we could stay to achieve that? Thanks!!

  • Somewhere along the coast would be nice. Via the commuter train, from southern CT. it can take as less then 40 minutes to get in to the city, greenwich, stamford, norwalk and fairfield are all options. If you didn't mind a little longer of a commute, New Haven is about an 1 1/2 via commute train into the city. Out of all of those options, Fairfield might be the nicest and most affordable. It's on the water and a fairly small town but not nearly as expensive as Greenwich.

  • I saw most extreme hotels on the travel channel the other day and it included a hotel in CT. It is pricey and not near NYC(however you can get in and out of CT in hours unlike most states). Anyways the hotel looks like a great place for a honeymoon even if you stayed there for 1 night. http://www.winvian.com/

  • The Inn at National Hall in Westport is really nice.  It's in the town center which has some cute shops and it's on the river.  It's about 45 minutes to the city by train which is fairly close to the Inn as well.
  • litchfield is very picturesque and cute.
