Tambor, Costa Rica

Hi girls, We just found out a family friend owns a gorgeous home in Tambor Costa Rica that we would be able to rent for cheap for our honeymoon! Any one know anything about the area... activities, restaurants, recommendations, non-recommendations? And, we definately would rent a car... but are there great adventures within reasonable driving distance! Any help is appreciated! Thanks, Kate

Re: Tambor, Costa Rica

  • We flew into Tambor and stayed in Santa Teresa. The ride from Tambor to Mal Pais/Santa Teresa is unpaved and bumpy, but worth it if you want to check out those towns. Mostly good for the empty beaches, watch surfers (or try, though when we were there it was really hard and I've surfed for a few years). Playa Hermosa is nice too, next to Santa Teresa. Also, Montezuma is supposedly cute but we got too lazy to drive there b/c of the road - but it'll be closer to you. There are a bunch of restaurants you can look up on tripadvisor in Mal Pais and Santa Teresa. However, I'd recommend checking out Florblanca (where we stayed) for a fancy/laid back restaurant w/oceanview/side and poolview/side (maybe lunch?). The food was pretty good, although pricey, drinks were great, and the views/setting wonderful.Haven't been (again, lazy b/c of road) but heard Mary's in Mal Pais is a must.Playa des Artistes in Montezuma was recommended to me by acquaintances who have a house in Santa Teresa, but we didn't make it due to laziness of roads. There is a canopy tour in Mal Pais I think; we had already done one, but if you haven't it might be worth it.
  • Thanks! I was starting to think it was a dead zone! Really looking forward to checking it out... I've heard Florblanca is gorgeous!
