Headed to St.Thomas...any tips?

We are leaving for our honeymoon in just a few weeks. Wyndham Bay Resort and Spa in St. Thomas. Just wondered if anyone had been and if there are any tips of the trade or activities we should check out. TIA

Re: Headed to St.Thomas...any tips?

  • St Thomas is very quiet right now.  Just be prepared.  A lot of restaurants are closed until Oct 1 and some activities are not running or are running on a limited basis.  Got to St John and take a trip to the BVI's (assuming you have a passport).Normally  I say do not go shopping downtown if there is a cruise ship. This time of year they are normally only open if there is a cruise ships are there.September is a nice time down here because it's pretty quiet, beaches are almost empty, boat trips are not normally packed, it's easier to get a great table at [open] restaurants.

  • I've been to St Thomas during the summer months. The sugar bay is absolutely gorgeous, plenty of activities there, would definitly return. Sr Frogs is in the downtown area- a nighclub/bar atmosphere, pretty laid back. The entire town closes at 6pm other than bars and nighclubs, so be prepared. A few of the top 10 beaches in the world are there, cant remember the name, jut ask the receptionist at the sugar bay, absolutely gorgeous clear blue water.
  • lyndausvi....do you think we will still enjoy ourselves? We definitely want to relax and just enjoy the beach but we were hoping to be able to venture out a little. We were thinking about going to the aquarium and just doing a little shopping. We chose a smaller resort because we like the fact that it isn't huge like a Sandals or something. I'm just hoping we made the right decision.
  • yes you will enjoy yourself. There is still stuff to do, it's just really slow. You will find restaurants and activities will only have a few people there.  Normally I get concerned if I only see a few people.  I'm wonder if I made the right choice.  I just want you to know that you did make the right choice and it's only slow because it's Sept.   For example the hotel I work at only has 60 people on property this weekend.   In December we have 1000 people.  That is a huge difference.  But it's like that every September. The Wyndham has two boats called Daydreamer and Coconut.  They hare great trips to St John, Jost Van Dyke, sunset sails, etc.  Definietly check them out.Their spa is nice.  Coki Beach should be open.  Check out the Sea lions.  I hear that experience is a lot of fun.  Go to Red Hook if you like bars.  There are some good ones like Caribbean Saloon, Island Time Pub, XO, the Celler etc.  You will find a lot of locals there (heck you might even met me!!)

  • Thank you so much for the input! It makes me feel better to hear from someone who lives there :)  We can't wait to relax and enjoy the beach! Thanks Again!
