October honeymoon

Anyone have any ideas or tips on October honeymoons? I'm particularly worried about hurricane season. We're looking at maybe St. Lucia or the Bahamas. What has anyone else done for October honeymoons?

Re: October honeymoon

  • hey fellow Oct Bride! We are doing St. Lucia, Sandals Grand! We took travel insurance, so I am not stressing! We just got $550 spa credit added to our HM because they listed a new promotion and our TA is the Bomb and added it for us (Jennifer at VIP Vacations)! We are so excited!
  • Hey! That sounds like fun, I was just on the Sandals website and saw that too. What exactly is included in the travel insurance? What does it cover?
  • if we see a hurricane approaching before we leave, we can cancel (i think up till the day before) It was like $100 per person. My TA offered it to us! We jumped on it, but I heard this was a very lower than average hurricane season this year anyway.
  • Europe is beautiful in October - no tourist crowds, lower prices, and nice, cool weather. Oh, and no hurricanes ;)
  • The farther south in the caribbean you go the better. Avoid Mexico, the DR, Jamaica, Bahamas if you want to stay hurricane free. St. Lucia and Aruba are safer since they are below the typical path of hurricanes. And def buy insurance if you plan on going in October to the region!

  • I'm getting married this October and we are going to Sandals, Antigua.  I feel like it is farther down and hurricanes typically go more north. Either way, we also got travel insurance, the best $200 I have ever spent.  Piece of mind is priceless!  I would pick St. Lucia over the Bahamas.  I feel like the Bahamans get a good deal of hurricanes during the season.
