Secrets Maroma or El Dorado Maroma?

My fiance and I are getting married May 2010 and are planning to honeymoon in the Riviera Maya area. After a ton of research, we've narrowed down our resort selections to Secrets Maroma and El Dorado Maroma. We are leaning towards one of these two resorts primarily because of the beach and location. We were also looking for all-inclusive, adults only. From the reviews I've read and the pictures we've seen of the resorts, we're leaning towards Secrets Maroma, but our TA is pushing El Dorado Maroma. We're having a tough time deciding which one to choose! Does anyone have pros and cons about these resorts? Thanks!!

we went t secrets maroma!  It was amazing!  I did go through El Dorado and although it is on the same beach, it is WAY different.  Secrets has these amazing pools and is just bigger, but not too big.  I didn't see the rooms at El Dorado so I can't comment but I loved our room.  We had a jacuzzi inside and this amazing tub on the balcony too!  OH and actually El Dorado looked a little odd as if it were two hotels converted into 1 hotel...very disproportional.  If your TA is pushing one vs the other, maybe you should look at other quotes from other TA's?  We priced online and with a few TA's and went with Jennifer at VIP Vacations.  I found her to be quite honest and she listened to what we wanted.

We had our DW at El Dorado Royale and loved it. We stayed in a casita and our guests are still raving about everything. I think mandiew2010 is talking about a different resort which is El Dorado Maroma, not the same as where our wedding was which was El Dorado Royale where they have the casita rooms.

Funnsun - how was the beach at El Dorado Royale? El Dorado Royale was highly recommended by the TA I've been talking to, but then I came across reviews about Maroma Beach and it seems that nothing else compares as far as the beach. The pics of El Dorado Royale are amazing and I love that they have hammocks on the balcony/terrace! Is El Dorado Royale located between Cancun and Playa del Carmen? Thanks for any info you can provide!

We stayed at a different Secrets 3 years ago-Secrets Capri. and it was WONDERFUL. Go with Secrets--they have a marvelous reputation. By the way, the El Dorado's are very big into time shares so if you do go with them, be careful about being pushed to set up a time to hear about their program. Secrets doesn't have time shares which influenced our decision years ago to go with them over some other resorts down there.

We are planning a DW and Secrets Maroma was one of the places we were looking at.  It looks amazing!!!  My TA had pictures that she was able to show us and it is definitely somewhere I would like to visit maybe for our one year anniversary.  We opted to not get married there because of the wedding requirements in Mexico, they were way more extensive than Jamaica which is where we are having our wedding.Unless the El Dorado Maroma is made of gold I can't see why your TA is pushing that on you and not Secrets!

We loved everything about El Dorado Royale, our guests are still raving about everything. The beach was fine and we would go back in a heartbeat!

Was there any option for night life at Secrets? It looks great that just seems to be the only catch. Our TA is pusing the El Dorado too...weird.
