how to pick/find travel agency

Hello!FI amd i want to start planning our HoneyMoon  (for May 2010) but i am unsure how to find a reputable travel agency.  We usually book through expedia, etc but i think we should use an agency for the HM trip.  Any suggestions? also, we are considering St Lucia and FI really wants to use Sandals so we can move around the different resorts.  Any feedback on Sandals in St. Lucia.

We had the same issues when we booked our honeymoon. We found an agency that always got good reviews on this board and have since recommended them to many. www.thetropicaltravelers.com. We told them what we were looking for in a destination and resort and they really listened to what we wanted and helped us narrow down the prospects. We decided on Mexico and had an amazing time. We tried a local agency, but they kind of just gave us a brochure and sent us on our way. Not exactly the kind of help I wanted. You should definitely seek out someone who has been to the location you are looking at.

We found ours on this honeymoon board Nancy from myislandgetaways.com  and contacted a few girls that used them and heard nothing but rave reviews. We went to St. Lucia and they actually specialize in St. Lucia and are the Top 10 World Wide for Sandals resorts. We received some great perks and got so much detailed information from them on the island and everything to do and it was just great to have someone to contact at all times. We are going to use them again for a return trip...we are spoiled now. GL

I booked my honeymoon thru Nancy Finn at Island Getaways as well, and I cannot say enough nice things.  When I was researching options, though, I did put a request in through tripology.com which has you outline the specifics of your trip then hooks you up with people that specialize in that area.  I really was impressed and highly recommend...

Use Up & Away Travel & ask for Joanne #203-332-0020 - tell her Jamy Buttner sent you. She is SSSSOOOO awesome and patient. We have changed our minds a couple times about where we are staying @ Sandals Antigua & she is always willing to change our reservation based on reviews we've read on line or whatever other story we've come up with. She's been in the business for a long time, so she knows a lot. Bottom line is, she's great! Good luck with your search!

I also recommend Jennifer at VIP. We are currently working with her to plan our perfect honeymoon. She knows what she is talking about and hey, who wouldnt want a travel agent that has her own show on the Travel Channel?

I also recommend Nancy Finn with My Island Getaways.  We just used her to book our June 2010 honeymoon at Sandals Grande St. Lucian.  She is very knowledgeable, patient, and she specializes in St. Lucia.   Good luck!

just an FYI, I contacted Jennifer at VIP. She is awesome. WE are so far out but she already got us pricing and made sure we get our rate for 2011! Thank you for recommending her!
