1 day in Miami or Puerto Rico

So here is our dilemma - We live in Washington state, going on our honeymoon the end of February taking a one week cruise then onto Antigua for a week. On our flight down to Puerto Rico we can arrive a day early and stay in Miami or San Juan, Puerto Rico.. We've never been to either city - what do you guys recommend? One thing to note is we are having some trouble finding a hotel in san juan that we can stay that Saturday night thats not REALLY pricy ($300+ minimums).. Most don't let you check in on Sat, just on Fridays...

If you can figure out the hotel thing I would 100% say Puerto Rico, I loved San Juan. But if you cannot and you have to stay in Miami you will make the best of wherever you go and MIami is a great city as well.

While it is about $200-220 per night for February 2010 on a Saturday, it does include a free made to order breakfast and a Managers Reception every evening which is free drinks and hors d'eourves. My travel agent has stayed there and said her kids (in their 20s) would go to the managers reception and be fed well enough to not even need to eat dinner later! I can give a review in 2 weeks.

FI and I are going on a cruise out of San Juan in November and we were able to find a hotel for just the Saturday night before the cruise leaves on Sunday. I would suggest the Conrad San Juan, Condado Plaza. We got a rate of $139 a night for just the Saturday night stay. Also, the Caribe Hilton San Juan is about $180 a night if I'm not mistaken. There should be plenty of nice hotels under $200 for just the one night stay. We normally use Expedia or Hotels.comGL!
