bridesmaids gift struggle..grr

i have 4 bridesmaids and 2 maids of honor ...my problem is the cost for everyone and what i want to get them is ridiculous amount just for the gifts...i know im suppose to get them the jewlery for the wedding but everything i like and would look good on them and the dresses they are wearing is about 20 a set then i want to get them a tote to carry their stuff around for the day...flip flops cuz they are all wearing heels...and i was thinking somthing  for each girl that is more personal ..i had all that up and its like 300 just for their gifts...and its making my heart beat alittle faster haha...any ideas how to cut the cost? the totes on here are on sale so hopefully they will still have them friday so i can order those and maybe make the jewlery but i dont want it to come out costing more to do so..please any ideas?

Re: bridesmaids gift struggle..grr

  • If I were you, I would get them something more personal.  A gift should not include somethiing they are required to wear for the wedding/anything WR.
  • Well to start you don't HAVE TO get them jewelry, it's a very nice gesture on your part but not completely necessary. Have them wear their own. That's cutting out $120 already! As for the tote and flip flops... etiquette says a BM gift shouldn't be something WR. However, IMO who doesn't like totes and flip flops? Not to mention, totes and flip flops don't have to be WR either. BUT I would just choose one. That way you're not breaking your budget AND you're keeping WR gifts to a minimum. Then you can get something NWR and personal for each girl.

So tote OR flip flops and personal gift per BM and MOH. Costs lowered already. Good luck!

  • I agree with Nati, I'd nix the jewelry.  I'm sure they all have beautiful jewelry that will go with their dresses.

  • Ditto on the jewelry...the only time you should purchase the jewelry is when you're requiring them to wear specific jewelry.  Also, I agree that the gift should be more personal...think like you're shopping for their birthday or for Xmas...my MOH & a BM is getting married less than a month after I am and I'm planning on getting something off of their registry...the others I'm shopping like it's their birthday!
  • thanks guys that makes alot of sense and as far as the jewlery  i chose to have them pick out their own style dress and i just picked their color and the color shoes so its not uniformed so heck yea on not doing jewlery for them!!!!!!! i just thought it was something we were suppose to do for some reason...so thanks im getting everybody a tote then something personal! and calling it a win! thanx
