Aruba Honeymoon

My fiance and I just booked our honeymoon in July! We are going to stay at the Bucuti Resort in Aruba. We are looking for suggestions on the best places eat during our stay and also any excursions or activities that are worth checking out. Thanks!

Re: Aruba Honeymoon

  • Yay!
We are going in June and staying atthe Raddison.

Did you use an agency to book or you did it on your own?

We took a chartered snorkeling tour and visited three different sites- one above a giant shipwreck, one out in deep water, and one in shallow water where there were lots of fish and rays.  Also- snorkeling at Arashi Beach and Jane Sea.

My favorite memories from Aruba are from exploring other parts of the island and doing outdoorsy things, like renting a Jeep ourselves to visit the Natural Pool and the Natural Bridge (though it has since fallen), climbing the mountain in the middle of the island, visiting the Ayo rock formations, and visiting the rock climbing park.

There are also herds of wild donkeys and horses on Aruba that I loved seeing- I think there is a donkey sanctuary there as well?

  • I suggest the snorkeling tours as well that take you to the shipwreck. That was amazing! I was really upset that our pictures from our waterproof camera didn't come out from the shipwreck. I assume it was because they were too dark, but our other snorkeling pictures came out great!
  • We stayed at the Bucuti last month for our HM and really enjoyed it. The concierge staff was great at recommending restaurants and making reservations for us, so you can always ask them for ideas.

We did a sail and snorkel cruise with Jolly Pirates and loved it - we chose the afternoon cruise, which was 2 snorkel stops (including the shipwreck) plus another stop to play on their rope swing. It was open bar, so by the end everyone was dancing and chatting, but it wasn't crazy spring break-ness.

We also did the ABC full-day jeep tour, which did a lot of the things LaFemmeRousse mentions. We debated between renting a jeep and doing a tour, and in the end we were glad to have done the tour in order to see as much as we did and not get lost. We're not really "tour" people, but in this case it was the better choice for us. And yes, there's a donkey sanctuary, although we didn't go.

Our favorite meal was at Screaming Eagle - SO good and not too expensive. It's walking distance from Bucuti.
  • We also went on the Jolly Pirate tour and it was great. We also ate at the most amazing italian restaurant while we were there. We stopped on a cuirse so we were only there for one day and I have no idea what the name is but everything was made so fresh and everyone in our group ordered something differnent and it was all equally great! It is by far rated as our best meal ever. Ask around with the locals. That is how we found about it.
  • To add to a PP, there is a donkey sanctuary.  Been there...it is a different experience
