Ideas on where we should go?

We have no idea where to even start looking. We looked at a Sandals resort, but it's kind of confusing. 

I'd like to stay in the States to save some money, ideally. I was thinking somewhere in the South, on the beach. I'd also like a resort or a hotel or something where we don't have to worry about anything. He wants a place with good food and I think where we can do fun things, like see shows and such. Of course, price is a definite consideration we have to remember, but we don't have a set budget yet. 

Any ideas?
