Help, I need to pick your brains.

My fiance and I need some help deciding what to do for our honeymoon.  We are on a very tight budget, and because of that reason we probably need to stay fairly close to home, which is Richmond, VA.   We have a budget of about $800.00 for the hotel alone.  We have a little extra cash for food and entertainment.  We were thinking about going to Myrtle Beach just to get away, but I was wondering if any of you knotties have an different suggestions???  We are getting married on October 2, 2010.  Oh, and my fiance would also like to be on or near a beach.

Also, a very tight budget and we want to stay close to home in the Philadelpa metro region. If you are near VA -- how about Virginia Beach? Or Colonial Williamsburg? Or Baltimore Harbor in MD? Or Hilton Head Island? Or Chesapeak Bay area? If you have a budget of 800.00 - have you thought of a flight to NYC and stay for 3 days?

NYC hotels could be pricey...

why not look into bed and breakfasts on a nearby beach?  That way your hotel and some food is covered.

If you're interested in HH, here is a website for rentals (non-hotels).  There's condos and houses.  Friends of mine & I all chipped in a for long weekend a few years ago (most of us lived there at one point and were visiting for a long weekend).  HTH

DC area...hmm, what about going up to Boston or Maine? My friends did a little mini-East Coast tour for their honeymoon and loved it!

You could also go to Charleston, SC, my parents had a blast there!

What about going down to Savannah GA or Tybee Island? I have never been there, but it seems to be the hot spot down here. I have also heard nice things about Charleston SC.
