Post your favorite Aruba Restaurants and Bars for HM

We are going to Aruba in July for our HM and I wanted to get a good list going of places to eat.  We like all types of foods.  List your favorite places to eat and to go afterwards for some drinks :)

We are staying at the Tara Beach Suites and Renaissance so anything within walking distance is a plus.

  • I have been down to Aruba a few times and absolutly love it!!!!  Some good places to eat are...

For a cheaper meal but yummy Salt and Peppers (tapas restaurant so portions aren't huge but its pretty good).  My favoriate restaurant was The Driftwood.  If you are interested in going out deep sea fishing they will cook your fish there as well.  Was DELICIOUS!

For Bars...the piano bar is pretty fun and entertaining if you like that.  Mambos is GREAT and is full of local people salsa dancing.  The Paddock not only is a fun bar but also has great food.  Spin the wheel at the bar and you can get 6 beers for a dollar and other great deals.

I would stay clear of the restaurants offering "dinner on the beach".  The food wasn't as good in my opinion and the stray dogs and bugs can get bad.

Hope this helps!! You will love it

  • You have to go to La Trattoria el Faro Blanco - amazing Italian restaurant. Go at sunset and sit outside!
  • Salt and Pepper is good for breakfast or lunch.  There's the Flying Fishbone (romantic), AquaGrille, Papiamento (very romantic), Vistas del Mar....all of these have great seafood.  Driftwood is good though there's nothing romantic about it since it's usually filled with big parties due to the low prices.  You definitely have to try the Wahoo if you've never had it before....it's like eating a piece of steak!  For good spanish food you can go to Cuba's Cooking.  These are the restaurants H and I usually go to when we go to Aruba.
  • The Flyinf Fishbone!
  • I am new to the HM board - but saw this post and I love Aruba!  One of my favorite islands!!

El Gaucho - is downtown, but defintely worth the trip into town if you enjoy a really good steak!

Flying Fishbone - great scenery and sunset, i thought that food was just ok for the price.  But I would suggest def going once for the experience

Salt & Pepper - Great for breakfast & lunch

Some places we did not make it to but heard great things about were Madame Janette and Papiamento - I will def try those on our next trip!

  • We stayed at the Renaissance a few nights when we went. The steak restaurant there is good, the Atlantis restaurant is not.
  • Madame Jeannette's is the best restaurant on the island.  You will need to drive or take a cab there, but it's not far and the food is wonderful.  Wouldn't go without a reservation.

Moomba Beach Club is a fun bar on the beach by the Marriott.  Pelican Pier is another fun beach bar (out over the ocean) off the high-rise beach--great for happy hour!
  • When in July will you be in Aruba for your honeymoon? We are going for our honeymoon too! We are getting married July 21st and will be headed to Aruba on 7/22-7/31. We are looking forward to going fishing, snorkeling, laying on the beach, and going out a little :-)

  • Madame Jeanette as pp said also there is a mini golf place near there! We went to dinner then went to play mini golf! haha (it's owned by a Boston guy and it's part of a bar).
Also, El Gaucho has some of the best steak I have ever tasted.

Most places you cannot go wrong. Aruba's food is really amazing!!

We are staying at the Aruba Marriott. My fiance's parents have a time share there, so we are getting an awesome villa. Do you know what hotel you are staying at yet? Have you booked your flights? Flight prices seem to keep going up, right now they are about $750 from San Diego. Very cool we will be there at the same time :-) We've both never been there so that is how we chose Aruba. We have been looking into doing a sunset cruise for dinner one night and my fiance wants to go deep sea fishing one day..I'm looking forward to relaxing on the beach after all the wedding festivites are over.

  • I love Aruba - it's an easy flight from Boston and my best friend's parents have a few timeshares at the Marriott so I've been there 5 times (3 with fiance and 2 with her). The Marriott has 2 different timeshares, worth noting - one is the Ocean Club and the other is the Surf Club (SC is fam-based). Even writing this post makes me want to be there.

    Fave restos:
    - Papiamento - so romantic.
    - Madame Jeannette's is amazing
    - Sunset Grille in the Radisson
    - We're not big on chains, but we wound up going to Ruth Chris in the Marriott once and have been back twice since - specifically because of the Alaskan King Crab legs that were the best I've ever had.
    - Wacky Wahoo's -- super authentic & delicious.

Definitely do a Jolly Pirates cruise - the open bar one with a rope swing is so much fun. The last time we went we did a half-day Jeep tour over the island which was a lot of fun -- you and six others visit the island's natural pool, collapsed bridge, and donkey farm. Highly recommend Aruba!
