Honeymoon Discussions

For those of you that have been to Hawaii....

We are planning on going to Oaho for our honeymoon next June, and I was curious to know.... What was your favorite thing to do there? Favorite place? Favorite restaurant? Was there a place that you wish you had gone, but didnt?

Any help would be lovely! I have never been to Hawaii before Tongue out

Re: For those of you that have been to Hawaii....

  • favorite thing:  Oahu Diving (you don't have to be certified, it was an amazing experience)

favorite restarant:  Lulu's.  It's on the farthest end of Waikiki Beach (closest to Diamondhead).  GREAT fish and fairly descent prices for Hawaii.

can't miss:  Pearl Harbor, Dole Whip (they sell it on the Dole Plantation, but also in the food court at the International Marketplace in Waikiki), a Luau (we did ours on Maui, so I don't know of any good ones on Oahu)

ok: Hanauma Bay for snorkeling.  it was good, but kind of crowded.  if you do go snorkeling, I suggest renting your equipment at the local dive shop (i forget the name of the one we went to, but they have better quality equipment and it's cheaper than if you rent it at Hanauma Bay)

that's all i can think of for now.  you'll LOVE hawaii tho.  for more info, you can always look at tripadvisor.com.  we use that to help plan all of our vacations and hasn't steered us wrong yet.

  • I stayed on Maui for a week and a half a few years ago - we made sure we checked out ALL the beaches.

We also drove to Hana on the other side of the island and hiked through the bamboo forest and the seven pools.  Gorgeous.

We also took a day and went snorkeling at Lanai, which is one of the more quiet islands.

You can't go wrong with Hawaii :) I wish I was there now.

  • We are going to Oahu in August for our HM.. we plan to go to Pearl Harbor, sunset dinner cruise, luau, parasailing, possibly scuba diving of some sort.. not sure on that yet..
  • i've been to Oahu quite a few times.... i love it there.

one of the thing i love is driving around the island - you can find prawn shacks on the side of the road where you can buy fried prawns, so delish!

i agree that hanauma bay is lovely but crowded.  dole plantation is fun... i've done the zoo in waikiki with my kids, also there are lots of great nightclubs too.

  • To eat: Alan Wong's, Roy's, Sansei.
