Last minute Honeymoon - need suggestions.

Hello,

Well since my FI & I went over budget on our wedding... we now do not have any money to spare for our honeymoon (which it really sucks!!) However, we were thinking since I know for sure we will be getting monetary gifts from family members since its a big wedding, I was thinking of booking the honeymoon the day before we leave like for example: my wedding is on August 21st and we can just book the honeymoon for August 23rd-Augst 27th or something.  However, we have no idea of where to go because we are relying on people giving us monetary gifts (if we get enough money of course).  I was just wondering, what are some great places for a last-minute romantic get-away???

  • I used to know a couple who would pack a bag, grab a couple of bottles of wine and drive for an hour.  Then they would find a hotel with a restaurant (or one nearby) and check in for a couple of days.

Maybe find a B&& not too far away.  That way you won't break the bank.

I wouldn't count on the money you get from your guests to pay for your honeymoon.  You never know what will happen.  If you can afford it on your own, without their money-- great.  If not, then just save up for a year anniversary trip or wait for a couple of months.
  • I agree with the PP but for last minute vacas, I would go with Vegas.  Plenty to do and pretty affordable.
  • From where you're located, I would drive to either wine country or Vegas. Rooms on the Vegas strip are really cheap right now and they're offering a lot of booking incentives. Also, if you book a room in Vegas, become a fan of that hotel on Facebook and you should receive some perks for doing so. DH and I got a great upgrade last month from a basic room to a suite with a jacuzzi tub and welcome champagne at The Mirage just because we were Facebook fans. HTH!
  • i am biased, but i say San Francisco or Wine Country!
PM me if you need any recs or any other information!  End of August/September is the BEST time to come up to NorCal.
  • From where are you located I would drive down to La Jolla or San Diego.  If you want to go north you could stop in Carmel/Monterey and even continue on to San Francisco too.  There are a lot of romantic places in California!
  • I agree - drive down the coast -- there are plenty of quaint places to stay along the way.

  • There are often great last minute deals on hotwire.com or travelocity.com for hotels, vacation packages, and cruises.  Might be worth checking out.
