  • We are looking into doing the same thing!  We are still in the beginning stages of planning.  We've narrowed down the jungle part of our trip to Tabacon Resort and Arenal Nayara...both are kind of pricey, but they look amazing!  I've heard good things about both places and they are in the same general area of Arenal volcano. www.tabacon.com and www.arenalnayara.com are their websites.

We haven't decided yet where to go for our beach part of the trip, but we're considering the Guanacaste region.  I posted on this board awhile ago and some ladies recommended Guanacaste because it's the driest region, which would definitely be nice since we're probably going during the rainy or "green" season (we're going in June).  I haven't had a chance to really search out hotels in this area yet, but I did purchase a book on Costa Rica that has some recommendations and I've been reading a little at a time.  I definitely suggest going to your local bookstore and buying a travel book of some sort on Costa Rica because I've read so much helpful information on the country and which excursion are best, etc.  Good luck!
  • Thanks Katie- we are going the first week in June also and so far have been looking at the Arenal region for the first part and then have heard suggestions about RUI resort which I believe is in the Guanacaste region also...
  • In Arenal i would recommend the Magic Mountain Hotel- great honeymoon package
In Guanacaste- the JW Marriott is nice, but pricey- also check into the Casa Conde del Mar or the Grand Papagayo for all inclusive
  • We're doing 3 nights at Arenal Nayara, 2 nights at Hidden Canopy Treehouses in Monteverde, and 4 nights at Oxygen Jungle Villas in Uvita.  So we're getting volcano, cloud forest, and beach.  Also, two nights in San Jose (when we get there and when we leave) so we're not rushing to and from the planes.

Wow, that sounds like a lot of moving now that I think about it.

If I wanted to hear the pitter-patter of little feet, I'd put shoes on the cat. image
