Has anyone had a tattoo airbrushed?

How did it come out? I'm having Dana Bartone do airbrush makeup on my face and I think I'm going to have her airbrush a large tattoo on my back. I'm just worried it will be so obvious that I have makeup on my back....does anyone have any experience with tattoo coverage?

I had a friend who did it once and didn't look bad at all, you just have to be extra carefull w/the dress.

Just curious, why would you airbrush it out? You decided the tattoo was important enough to get in an exposed place, no?

Good question, it's a dilemma that I have been grappling with. I absolutely love my tattoo...it is large, but not offensive (its a lotus flower). My mom is not a big fan, but she eventually got used to my tattoos. My dad doesn't really care. FI's side of the family is very old school. I also have some elders on my side of the family who are quite old school, too. I don't believe they would be offended in any way, but I just think I'd like to have it covered so that people are focusing on me and my dress, not just staring at my tattoo. There are many people who are invited to our wedding, who would instantly focus on it and say "oh wow what a big tattoo she has"...and then pass judgement. Believe me, normally I don't give a rat's arse if someone passes judgement on me! But on my wedding day, I want everyone to focus on FI and I during the ceremony...not the big tattoo walking down the aisle. I have a smaller one on my wrist. i won't be covering that up. The rest of them will be covered by the dress. All of FI's will be covered by the tux.

Anyways, it's a tough decision for me. I've decided I'm going to try and cover it without looking too "makeup-y." I think my mom will be pleased too. Part of me is doing it just to appease her.....she's contributing a lot of the financial part of this wedding and I feel like she would be happier if it were covered. Compromise, i guess...

I think that you have really thought this out, and I think it's a smart idea.  I went to FI's friend's wedding.  The bride had a large tatoo on her back.  To be honest it seemed to "distract" from the bigger picture of how lovely she looked.  I understand that people get tatoos for very personal reasons, but sometimes, such as why you have mentioned, it might be a good idea to cover it.  I think air brushing it would be a good option without looking "make-upy."

Yes, I am hoping that the airbrush doesn't look too cakey on my back! But if it's flawless on the face, I imagine it's just as good on other body parts. I'm going to test it out when I do my hair/makeup trial to make sure. It's true that tattoos can be distracting at a wedding. It's such a tough decision to cover them up...in a way, you feel like you are hiding an important part of you. But like you said, sometimes it makes people focus on just the tattoo, so they miss out on the beauty of the whole wedding because they are so fixated on a tattoo. It's a shame but it's true. I'm spending a lot of money to look good, I want people lookin' at ME! lol :)
