Need help: honeymoon suggestions - St. Lucia on top of list

Does anyone know anything about the Sandals Regency St. Lucia? We'll be traveling late August/early September, so we have to be concerned with hurricane season, however, St. Lucia is relatively safe from storms. Any thoughts? Our original plan was to go to the Amalfi Coast, but we feel it won't be as relaxing... I'm torn. We're willing to spend a little more, so money is not really the concern.

Thanks for the advice

  • FI and I are also going to St. Lucia for our honeymoon in August and we are so excited! We talked to many people including my Aunt and Uncle who stayed at the Regency and did not like it nearly as much as the Grande St. Lucian. They said that since there is free transportation between all three of the Sandals they spent most of their time at the Grande and that it was a lot more modern with more activities. Hope that helps!
  • A friend of mine stayed at the Grande and she thought it was ok. Depending on how much you want to spend, how much time you're spending in St. Lucia, etc., I'd also consider a non-all-inclusive resort.  Some that get great reviews here and on the nest are Ladera, Stonefield Estate Villas and Ti Kaye.  These resorts are much more intimate, have plunge pools, Ladera's suites only have 3 walls so you are always exposed to nature!!

  • I think the Regency looks wonderful.  But I hear the grande is better.
  • We are going to the Grande in August!  We went back and forth between the Grande and the Regency, but decided that the beach at the Grande was much better and worth the extra money.  I've heard the beach at the Regency is very small and the waves are rough, but since you have transfers between resorts it might be okay.  St. Lucia is beautiful though!

  • We are going to St Lucia and I have heard the Sandals grande is much better if you like that kind of atmosphere.  We actually are booking a smaller boutique hotel.

<div>DItto this! FI and I looked into Ladera and Jade Mountain both of which have AI package options. But they are definitely more pricey so you could choose to split up your stay between one of these resorts and a Sandals so you can have both experiences but not completely empty the bank. </div>
  • I stayed at the Regency in 2004, we got the conssierge suite. We had a perfect honeymoon, tripadvisor.com should help you. I had he best HM ever....love St.Lucia
  • My Fiancee and I are going to St. Lucia in August! But not to  a Sandals, we're going to Coconut Bay Resort and Spa and it is an AI. Looks beautiful to me and it's affordable! Hope this helps! =)
