Rehearsal dinner in Hartford??

Hi ladies!

Since I'm ahead fo the game, I figured I'd start looking into rehearsal dinner locations. We're getting married at The Hartford Club, which is right near the Marriott. We would love something in walking distance from The Hartford Club, since that's where the rehearsal would be, but are open to someplace that at least has a good parking situation. There will be about 30 guests at the rehearsal dinner, and we're looking to spend between $1500 and $2000. I've looking into Dish, but their back room has a minimum of $2500-$3000.

Thanks! :)

I work in Hartford so I've done a bunch of lunch meetings in that area. There is a restaurant inside the Hartford Marriott called Vivo - I have only been there for breakfast but it was pretty good. Not sure if they let you rent it out, but it seems like it would be close and convenient for you, so it might be worth looking into. I am also a big fan of Trumbull Kitchen, Hot Tomatoes, Max Downtown, and Salute. And if you are into sushi/japanese - Feng is really good. Again, I've only had lunch/dinner at these places, so I'm not sure what they charge for rehearsal dinners, but I know the food is good!

    Hope this helps!

We are having ours at Dish and they waived the minimum $2500 fee.  We will probably be spending between $1500 and $2000.  Did you talk to Lynn?  She can probably waive the minimum fee for you too!

I'm in the process of figuring this out too. I'm getting married at G. Fox so we're looking Downtown Hftd too.  I only want to spend around $2000 and it's not looking too good. lol

FI wants City Steam but I want somewhere a bit more upscale. I looked into Dish and they wouldn't budge on the minimum for me either.

Any other ladies had a rehearsal dinner downtown Hartford? Does Zula have a private room?

Oh man, that is such a bummer that they wont budge on the minimum!!  I guess the only reason they were able to for us was because it is during their slow time after the holidays.  Still though I think having a minimum is stupid!  Why turn away business?

    I agree...

I looked into City Steam also, but we might be doing a brunch there the morning after, so I didn't want our rehearsal dinner the same place. Plus, I also wanted something a little more upscale, too.

I don't think Zula has a back room, but I might be wrong. I do know that Vivo has private areas for dining. Trumbull Kitchen is a love of mine, but we might be right over the 30 person mark for their upstairs loft area. :(

We are in the same boat big time! I love TK but we are right over their 30 person mark too. I'm going to call Zula and see if they have a private room. If I come across anything, I'll let you know!

Agave (the pics on the website are cheesy) is worth taking a look at if upscale Mexican is an option. They have great private room that is out of the way. They also have a large TV mounted on the wall, where I bride I planned a wedding for played a slide show during her rehearsal dinner. It was one of the best RD experiences so far in Hartford.

Max restaurants are great but all of their private rooms are really good for about 25 even though some of them say 35. The spaces are great but can feel tight.

    West Hartford is good too...
Also, Spris on the Plaza is changing to Braza

Has anyone done Braza for a rehearsal dinner? Could be a cute idea

I just recently got married ( October 7th) and we had our rehearsal dinner at Hot Tomatoe's and it was AMAZING!  The back room is a stone wine cellar and its very private with your own bathrooms etc.  They had great service and the food was beyond great!  Honestly, if the room was larger, I would have considered getting married there!
Definatly worth checking it out!  FMIL paid but if i remember pricing was reasonable!
    Good Luck!
