was a CT knottie, just moved to CT

Hi ladies,

I used to post as jesslovesdave, but when we decided to elope I lost track of my login information...

My husband and I had been planning a September 17 wedding in Mystic, but instead we eloped to Bar Harbor, ME on August 10!

Pictures are here if anyone wants to see  :)

At any rate, we also just moved to Branford, CT and I started a new job in Middlefield, CT this week.

I figure there's no better place than the knot to get some recommendations for hair stylists etc...and hopefully make it to a GTG at some point.

I hope everyone is enjoying the planning/life as a newlywed!

Congrats!  What made you decide to elope?

I actually go to the Meriden mall to get my hair done.  My mom and I both go to Al there.  I grew up in between Branford and Middlefield so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Aww! What made you elope? Just the craziness? I wish I had eloped...

Anyways, I love the CT girls and I never am afraid to ask questions on here- don't you be afraid either! Ask away!

Thanks ladies for the warm welcome!

Regarding why we eloped,  As soon as we got engaged, I said I wanted to elope...I just had anxiety about  alot of wedding stuff (money, dancing, etc)...but we agreed to have a small wedding to please our families....

Well the guest list kept growing, and some family issues (both sides really) grew to the point that I felt that the wedding had grown into a very expensive way to please family that we hardly ever talk to, and my husband's mom (and impress her friends)...so we "postponed" and eloped!

Awww good for you!!!  I'm glad you decided to go with your heart and do what's right for the two of you.
I love Branford and the commute to Middlefield doesn't sound bad since you don't have to take any major highways.
I know people who go to Salon Massimo and Paul & Co. I've gone to Salon East in Branford. or  Madison Avenue in Madison, which isn't far.  But there are so many places in Branford so I doubt you'd need to go too far.

(If you need dr. recs, most of mine are in Branford haha, so you can PM me)

    Congrats! Your pics are beautiful!

Congrats on your wedding/elopment and welcome back!  When we were doing our planning, I definitely had a moment or 2 where I just wanted to throw in the towel and run off and elope from the craziness (mostly family drama over HM registry, invitations and the awkwardness of not inviting someone who DH is mad at from many years ago).  I'm glad you made the decision that felt right for both of you.  I'm glad I went through with it, but I'm glad to hear you're happy! :)

Any thoughts on telling the family? lol

Branford is such a nice area (I'm in Madison, I love it down here, but I grew up in Durham).  I actually kind of wish there were more highways to make the commute easier because getting stuck behind someone doing 40 on a road where the speed limit is 50 drives me bonkers!!! lol  But the scenery is nice :)  Where in Middlefield are you working (I love hearing about my old "stomping grounds" lol)?

As for haircuts, I get mine cut at a salon in Wallingford (been going there for years since living in Durham, and now working in Meriden it's not so bad, I don't trust many people with my hair because I've gotten a lot of bad cuts over the years lol).  My dentist is in Hamden, my eye doctor Wallingford, my PCP is in Durham, I go to PP in Old Saybrook for gyno stuff...I'm all over the place haha, but I like to stick with what I know, and the commutes aren't so bad.

Thanks for the warm welcome - I'm sure I'll be looking for doctor recs once I figure out my new health insurance/network!
