Work...Love your job? Like it?....

What do you do??

Or if you are a student what are you studying to do?

Do you love your job? Like it? hate it?

What makes it so good or bad?

    good questions :)

I'm in my 4th of year of grad school going for my doctorate in clinical psychology. I loved working in a middle school last year. This year, I'll be with the little ones at a child study center. I love working with kids. I hate not getting paid for it.

I work for the CT Whale hockey team in Hartford. It's the AHL affiliate of the NY Rangers. My degree is in sports marketing and I love what I do. The hours are crazy during our season and from Sept-April we can't take days off and usually work weekends but I love the energy of working in sports. It's fast paced and mostly younger people in my office. It's fun working for something that people are so passionate about.

    What do you do??
I work at Indeed.com (a search engine for jobs). I work in Client Services helping employers advertise their jobs on Indeed.com.

Or if you are a student what are you studying to do?
I finished school in 2008 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. I'm not much for school lol! I've been working full time since my second year of college trying to get as much experience in advertising as possible while finishing my degree.

Do you love your job? Like it? hate it?

I never thought I'd be able to say this but I actually love my job (for now lol!)

What makes it so good or bad?
What makes my job good is definitely the people I work with. There is a lot of young people here and the people on my team get along really well. It's nice to be able to talk and laugh throughout the day. Even when we're swamped and stressed! I also really know my stuff and love being the "go-to" person when people have questions/issues.

I have a masters in Psych but had worked my way through a large fortune 500 company while attending school and eventually became the VP of Sales and Marketing. I then was laid off and wasn't actually sure what I was going to do with my life. I could finally use my expensive education or continue doing what I was comfortable doing.

After many pushes from friends and family I started my own Event Planning business. I LOVE what I do. It is the perfect marriage of all things from my background. Running my own business has the same amount of stress as running a much larger company so for me it was an easy transition. The only negative, is that I can't call out sick :)

I work for a job placement agency and manage all of our fulltime placements (as opposed to temp placements) in Connecticut. I got my degree in Journalism, thought I wanted to be a Journalist and then found this job a few months after I graduated and I fell in love with this company! I started as a recruiter and got promoted to where I am now. I enjoy a lot of the aspects of my job...finding jobs for unemployed people is very very rewarding! But the hours can be long and it can be a high-pressure environment. Due to the long hours and intense schedule, I'm not sure if it's something I could continue to do when I become a mother, but for now it's just fine!

I'm working at St. Francis Hospital at the Mandell Center for Multiple Sclerosis running clinical trials.
It's a great culmination of all my research experience thus far and I love the people I work with, but I want to further my education.
I have a bachelors in biology, I got accepted to PA school, but it's sooo expensive! While I'd love to go back to school, I already have a lot of undergrad debt, I've got no savings, plus we're paying for a wedding and trying to buy a house, there's no way I can just take 2-3 years off from working to going to school full time. I'm thinking of trying to find a night/weekend nursing program so that I can get more clinical experience with my career.
Anyone know of any Part time/weekend, inexpensive nursing schools in CT?

I teach 7th grade! I love it. I work in a tough school district and it makes it so rewarding when you reach the kids and teach them not only school stuff, but life lessons.

I Love this keep em coming ladies!! this is so interesting!!! Everyone has such interesting jobs and so different!!

I work at an inpatient drug an alcohol treatment center doing intakes and psych-social assesments I have my bachelors degree in Human Services and Psychology. I love meeting the individuals that come in for treatment and their families and see what issues that they have and help them figure out what kinds of treatment we need to set thelm up with while they will be with us. Most of the residents are here for a minimum of 28 days but some are here much longer. It is so weird to say but i LOVE my job! and I usually end up working at least 45-50 hours a week and I don't mind it because I know I am helping others and It means a lot to me.

It is so odd to me that most of us really actually like/love our jobs...Its great!! :)

I am currently a Senior Associate at a Public accounting firm doing Auditing. I received both my bachelors and masters in Accounting. It is a very stressful job and long hours. At times I am working 70-80 hours a week. Definitely not a lifetime job, but it is good for now and is a great stepping stone to get a great job after this.

I'm a certified ophthalmic assistant. Oh and a labor doula. I love being a tech but don't always love my curent place of employment. I would love to be a doula full time but it doesn't pay well enough.... maybe after we have kids.

It's good to hear that pretty much everyone HAS and ENJOYS their jobs!

I'm a family therapist at a non-profit agency in Worcester, MA. I live in upstate CT so it's a drive over the border. I love the people I work with and the amount of paid time off I get, but I don't love the pay and lack of gas reimbursment ( I do home based work).

The work I do is emotionally exhausting, but rewarding at the same time.

I am a bartender at Water's Edge (mostly in the summer) just for fun and because it's good money.

Aside from that, I'm trying to find a teaching job. I've had my master's in elementary ed since Dec. 2008 and have worked as a part time reading teacher for the last year and a half and had 3 long term sub positions before that. It really sucks when you are up against 1,000+ applicants for one single position. If anyone knows of districts that are hiring, my ears/eyes are open!

SCSU has an accelerated and a traditional BSN program. I am starting the traditional BSN program in the fall. I too have a bachelor's in Biology but I chose the traditional route because it is more laid back (relative!) and you can do that PT. It's only 4 semesters and you get all the regular college breaks. The first semester is the hardest but after that I have had several friends work while completing the program. You would work as a student nurse/patient care tech at any hospital and are also many times gaurunteed a job when you get out of school. You can always go on to become a Nurse Practicioner, which is the same thing as a PA pretty much. I feel in nursing there are endless career/educational opportunities where as when you become a PA, that's it, there is no continuing education or degrees specific to the field. App Deadline is Feb 1st of each year, and tuition is about $4400 a semester including all the fees and what not (for in-state)...check it out www.southernct.edu/nursing

I work at a promotional advertising agency; I graduated last May with a Bachelor's in graphic design. :) I really enjoy what I do overall, and it's a good company--although as with any job, there are always a few negatives (i.e. it's an hour away from home). I'm trying to move up a little in the company (hoping for a promotion sometime soon!) and it's frustrating when you think you deserve a promotion (and co-workers tell you so), but you haven't gotten it yet... but I'm just gonna keep working hard! I feel like I've learned so much in the last year, and I definitely am grateful to have a job that I enjoy.

I graduated with my doctorate in PT last spring and I've had the most amazing experience in my first year of work. Hopefully this enthusiasm doesn't fade ;o)

Hi everyone - I've been 'lurking' for awhile - just got engaged the end of June. Anyways, I read Ksahlberg, you're a coordinator? I'm a CRA! Small world!

Anyways - kinda love the job - I travel all around the country, most weeks which makes this wedding planning thing kinda stressful! It would be so much easier if I was always in the same place! Howver, the travel will hopefully land me a free honeymoon! :)
