Honeymoon Discussions

Give me your NYC bucket list!

So we'll be in NYC for a week for our honeymoon in April and here is what we have planned so far:

- Reservations at Le Perigord one night (I've never had french food! What's good?)
- Yankees game!
- See "Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo" (play with Robin freakin' Williams!)
- See "Memphis"
- Museums musts: Guggenheim & the Whitney (we have already been to the MoMa, the Met and the Museum of Natural History)
- Go to Brooklyn and eat at the original Junior's

I would love to hear any additional suggestions you may have! Romantic restaurants/cafes... museums... events... whatever! Also, for when we go to Brooklyn, what is something cool to do there? We'll be in the downtown area.

We love arts & culture, we've been before (never for a full week, though) and done the main touristy stuff in midtown and the statue of liberty. Our hotel is in midtown, really close to Madison Square Garden.

Also... one morning or afternoon I want to shop. We'll prob. split up for a few hours to do this... what area should I go to? Fifth Avenue? Anywhere else or neighborhood with a lot of shops? I've never been to Bloomingdales. Keep in mind I am plus sized and a lot of chic little boutiques that only go up to size 12 or 14 would not work for me. In my perfect world there has got to be some awesome store in NY for big ladies!

TIA!

Re: Give me your NYC bucket list!

  • I agree; Top of the Rock is fabulous. I enjoy it much more than Empire State Building.  Personally, I enjoy Madame Tousseaud's Wax Museum.  It's a fun little place.  I also love Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.  Very cool.  We always shop on Fifth Ave and in Times Square.

Also, I take my students for a few days in June and we always have this walking tour that is amazing. I'm not sure who does it, but I'm sure you could find one.  Our guides take us to Ground Zero, St. Paul's Church, The Irish Hunger Memorial, the Africal Burial Memorial, and Winter Garden, to name a few.  It's a very interesting way to see the city and get a chance to see all sorts of stuff.  As much as I hate dragging the kids on it (because they don't listen and they don't care), I think it would be amazing to do with a tour guide and adults.
