Contemporary/Modern Venue

I am getting married in October 2012 and am looking for suggestions of venues for both the ceremony and reception that have a contemporary feel.  I do not want a traditional banquet room with chandeliers, floral carpet, ect., which is what I keep finding when searching for venues.  We need to stay under about $60 a person for everything, including site rental fees, service fees, and taxes.  We are looking into the Mashantucket Pequot Museum but the site rental fee puts us over budget.  Does anybody have any other ideas?  Thanks!

Re: Contemporary/Modern Venue

  • How many people are you thinking about inviting? I love the restaurant Bespoke in New Haven. They have a rooftop terrace... Possibly for the ceremony, and then the restaurant for the reception. Their food is a bit pricey, but if you are going for a modern feel, try doing an evening wedding with heavy apps and/or dessert. I also looked into The Study Hotel in New Haven. Another modern venue, but holds less than 100 people. Depending on where you live in CT, research cool and modern restaurants. There wont be a site rental fee (most likely), they have all the plates, napkins, etc, and it is easy to read reviews on their food. Hope this helps!!
  • Thanks, I will check those out.  We are having between 75 and 100 people.
  • We are getting married at the Pavilion at Rocky Neck State Park. It definetly doesn't have chandiliers or floral carpeting! But I don't know if it has the contemporary feel you are looking for either. More historic and rustic, PM me if you would like pics.
  • We LOVED Cascades! Reviews are in my MRS bio!
