Hotels in Mystic *Mystic Brides*

Any previous Mystic Brides, where did you block rooms for guests and yourself to stay? We want to stay somewhere we can keep the party going at a lounge/bar inside the hotel. Any recommendations??

Also anyone use school bus to shuttle guests back and forth? Who can I call to book this. Any one have any other ideas for shuttling?

Thanks!!

I got a block of rooms at the comfort inn down the road, 99$ per room. I did this because they were the most affordable, using their function room to get the day after breakfast catered also. However, there is no bar... I would suggest the Mystic Hilton- they have a nice little bar area that you could keep the party going in, or the Mystic Marriot (actually in Groton) but that's more pricey.

RNJade, where is your wedding?  Some of the hotels have arrangements with local venues and provide shuttles.  When my cousin got married, the Mystic Mariott provided a shuttle to her venue (Stonington Meadows) for guests.

We blocked off rooms at the Hyatt, the Residence Inn, Comfort Inn, and Hilton....  The Hilton was a last minute add but they were great to work with and definitely the most accommodating for an after-party bar.  They give you access to your own website so you can actually see all the guests' names who book under your rate (great for OOT bags).  Most of our guests stayed at the Hyatt, though, once they found out that DH and I were staying there.  We ended up extending our stay in Mystic and stayed at the Hilton for the last night.  Both hotels were great but I absolutely loved the Hyatt (maybe for sentimental reasons because that's where we hung out with most with guests). I think I also liked how the Hyatt was smaller so I felt close to everyone.
The Hilton doesn't require a contract.  The Hyatt does if you want the reduced rate. Otherwise, they give you a 20% off code that is opened to any wedding party (not just yours...so it might book up fast).

We used Dattco and they were pretty good. THey did a loop between Latitude 41, the Hilton, and the Hyatt.  We really didn't have guests staying at the other hotels.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

    Good luck :)

Ok so my wedding is at the River Room at Latitude 41. I like how the Marriott provides a shuttle. Did the hyatt have a bar inside as well? If you do not mind me asking, was Dattco expensive? We just want to make sure people are shuttled from hotel and back after wedding.

    Thank you everyone!

Just be careful with the Marriott because there's the Residence Inn Marriott (about a mile down the street) then there's the Mystic Marriott in Groton, which is about 5 miles I think?
The lobby of the Hyatt is much smaller than the Hilton but there is a bar (small). None of our guests ended up buying from the bar though. They all brought their own and were partying it up in the lobby. Hotel staff didn't mind at all.  They also have 24/7 food service that you can order from a computer downstairs and Starbucks coffee.
I want to say that Dattco was around $800, ballpark? That was for approx 6 hours.

I just looked at the Mystic Hilton last weekend as a possible venue for my wedding. You can book a block of room there and if you block off under 20 rooms and they are not used you do not have to pay for them, however, if you block off more then 20 rooms and say only 15 rooms are used then you need to pay for the extra rooms. Plus the hilton is the only hotel in the area that I think has the bar and will provide breakfast. They also suggested to me that if we had some out of towners stay there we could do a farwell breakfast with them. I havent looked into the prices of the other hotels in the area yet but I know there are a couple.

I am also having another dilemma ladies. How many rooms to block off?? We are having about 150 guests and a lot are young and I know they want to stay just not sure how many to block so I don't get stuck paying for rooms that aren't being used.

I blocked rooms at the residence inn. I called all the hotels in the area and they all told me that there were no shuttles back and forth. I can't believe some of you found other info on that? We booked a "party shuttle" for the end of the night, it was $150/hour for that.
