Coordinator Pricing

I am in wedding mode tonight!!!

Not sure if anyone has looked into pricing for coordinators yet but if you did, would you mind sharing?

I understand I'm getting married in Chicago and things are expensive but I'm getting quotes of like $1300-1500 for just day of coordinating. It feels crazy.

Re: Coordinator Pricing

  • I forget what they were here in Columbus when I started emailing around for estimates.  It was early on and I know wayyyyy toooo much.  I'm going to chance it and go without one.

  • We are planning to do it alone, I do see how having one can be very helpful but I don't have the money for it. But at one of the bridal shows I was at I "won" a prize of $75 off a coordinator package....yeah $75 off of over $1000 and that was just for the day of. I think that the prices that you have found are close to what I have seen. And I agree that that amount is crazy! I am going to have my whole family and my BMs, I think that all of us girls can handle it! Plus my DJ (aka my brother) is going to watch the time an announce when things need to happen. I would say if you have the money go for it but I do not think that it is necessary! Let me know though :)

  • Both my ceremony and reception venue have day of coordinators on hand to use, our reception venue one is actually built into the price for the package, so that's the route we're taking; the one for the church is only $300, so well within our budget.

  • Have you found a caterer yet? I'm not sure if it's the same with companies in Chicago, but around here all of the catering companies act like wedding coordinators as well. The lady I'm working with puts in her experienced opinions and is with me from choosing food, picking table decor, lining up a time-frame for things to run on, etc. She'll also be there the day of to handle any last minute issues with vendors and whatnot.
All of the "coordinators" business is included with the caterer so you aren't paying an additional fee.

I think your quotes sounds about right.....Where is your venue because sometimes they provide a DOC with that.  ALso post on the local chicago board...and the ladies can help alot!
  • mine is actually included in the price of the reception... they make sure everything goes smoothly for us - check in to that if you have a venue booked :)

  • Hina: I've had a lot of bad luck on the Chicago board...Not very friendly the couple times I posted!

Would an event supervisor be the same as a coordinator? I just double checked and my reception site offers that in the booking price. I'll ask for sure when I go next week too.

  • They are actually quite expensive for my the greater Austin area. They normally start well into the 1k range and go up. Some start at about $800 for the day of and they do hardly anything. I did find a couple of people who did it for $300-500 for the day of. Those people are just getting started and not well known yet.  If we have some extra money I am splurging on this. I think we could use it.

  • I've hired a DOC for $1000, but I live in Richmond, VA. I found her on the website for the Association of Bridal Consultants.

  • Phoenix is 1500 for day of coordinator and all they do is timelines, make sure vendors have timelines and kep things "running smooth". I can think of better ways to spend 1500.
