Orlando Honeymoon Locations....HELP

Hi All,

My FH and i just decided that Orlando is where we want to be. We've always wanted to swim with dolphins, go see Harry Potter World, and just relax before we have kids.

I am really struggling to find a place to stay. We don't want to just pick any random hotel, and the one resort, called Star Island, offers the resort type feel for a great price. The only problem is that about half the reviews online were horrible. They said it was dirty, cockroaches, etc. I don't want to pick a place that has the chance of being a disaster.

Please help. Has anyone booked an Orlando honeymoon resort and have any ideas for me? I want to book soon because our wedding is in June and things are going to fill up fast. Thanks!!! Cool

  • We stayed at Polynesian and it was wonderful, if you want to stay in Disney.

  • In addition to the Disney hotels, the hotels in the Downtown Disney area tend to be very nice, and, in my experience, are a little less expensive than the official Disney resorts.  You will get free transportation to/from Disney, and you're a relatively short drive from the other attractions in the area.

  • Have you checked out the Hard Rock or Portofino at the Universal resort? At night, you're a short walk or water taxi ride away from City Walk and performances by the Blue Man Group.

  • If money is not a big issue, I would definitely pick either a disney or a universal resort.

If you think you're going to spend more time at universal than disney, then pick the universal resorts.  They're right at the parks, and GORGEOUS.  Or if you're going to spend more time at disney, choose disney resorts.

  • What's your budget? Are you going right after the wedding? How long? It looks like the resort you listed is $1066 for 7 nights without airfare. The cheapest room is $136 a night. I'm from the Orlando area originally, and I vacation there 5 or 6 times a year. I also have season passes to Universal (actually just got back last night from a 2 week vacation there) so I'm super familar with the area. You can stay at a hotel on I Drive which is super close to Universal for waaaay less than that.

Where in PA are you leaving from? I just plugged in 7 nights in Orlando flying into MCO (Orlando's airport) leaving the Monday after your wedding and it's $1300 total to stay at that resort you mentioned (and it gets pretty crummy reviews) or you could stay at Floridays for $1300 total with airfare. That's the number one rated resort in Orlando on Trip advidor, it's located on I Drive, and it's condo style so you can prepare some of your own meals.

If your budget is significantly higher, Portofino's on Universal property is going to be around $2,000 total.

PM me if you have any other questions.
  • If you decide to go to Disney, PM me.  I vacation there at least once a year and have previously worked at Animal Kingdom and still have friends that work at WDW so I know all the ins and outs.  Good luck!
