Venue Change...again

Hello everyone! My fiance and I have been engaged since Christmas '09 and have finally set a wedding date. October 15, 2011. Now we're on to the hard part...finding a venue.

I have changed my mind so many different times about the venue its actually sad. I'm just trying to find something nice but reasonably priced but its hard. I'm getting alot of pressure from my mom to "just pick something". I wish it was that easy but its not.

Its getting close to the one year mark where I need to choose and be ready to put a deposit down. Does anyone have any suggestions for choosing just one and sticking to it? Did anyone else have this issue? My fiance is happy with whatever I decide :-)

Re: Venue Change...again

  • I had a little bit of "buyers remorse" after I booked. Basically I was just worried that maybe I should have looked a little bit longer. But after I talked to a few people and showed people pictures of the venue we picked, and remembered how much I really loved it when I was there, I calmed down and am happy with the decision. My fiance is the same way, he actually hasn't even seen the inside of the room where we will be. He said he trusts me, and if I love it he will too.

I'd say just go with your gut feeling. All the places I saw were nice, but when I went into the room we picked I got a huge smile on my face and was super excited.

You're right though, it's definitely not an easy decision! I still have second thoughts once in a while about the site for our ceremony. It's hard to find great venues at a good price. Good luck!

  • I feel ya, I can't make up my mind as to which STATE I want it in. I fell in love with a location where I live [NV], but I was originally planning to have my wedding somewhere in NY [where I lived for most of my life]...and now I'm back to looking at the NY location again. I flip flop. I even made the mistake of telling people one location [a few times!] and now I know I won't be having it there. Its so hard to choose because you don't want to regret not having it somewhere else...or wonder what it would have been like if you did.
Choose whatever makes the most sense for the two of you, makes the day less stressful.....and maybe compliments your dress/dream dress? (:
  • Take your time ladies, we have plenty of it and look around at as many places as you can find. We shopped around for venues a lot (pretty much looked at everything in our town) before we decided on the very last one we looked at. I'm glad I waited because we almost jumped the gun and booked the first one...it doesn't even compare to what we actually booked and it was the same price.
  • Take you time and go with your gut.

We looked at several places (and kept looking because parents wanted us to) and went with the second one we looked at. It was love at first sight for us. It is a normally pricy venue and we didn't think we could afford it. Later I found out they had a package deal and we got our dream location.

You will find a great place that is just perfect for you. Don't stress to much. You still have time. Be sure to ask before you look at a place if they have the day/days you are looking at available.

  • I looked with my FI at a few places and we picked one that I was not happy about but before we gave them any money my mom made me look around more. We everywhere! The place that I picked I didn't even want to go in to at all. She basically dragged me into it and it was total spur of the moment. And by luck the owner happened to be there. I was completely in love with it and knew it was the place. Dan still has not been inside of it but we have walked around and he likes it just as much. Take your time you have plenty of it!

  • Thank everyone! I feel better. Everyone is making me feel like i am the most indecisive person in the world because I can't seem to decide...lol. I'll just take my time, keep looking and hopefully I will find something that I love.Smile

OMG this is us in a nutshell! We have changed our minds about 20 times. We even thought of Plimouth Plantation as one of our choices. This week we're going to see two different venues. Hoping that this will narrow things down! We have so many out of town/state guests too that sending out our save the dates are crucial so they can make travel arrangements but we don't want to do that until we know the town we're getting hitched in (at least we know what state). Don't worry, look around and I'm sure...and I hope one will come to you!

My parents are also pressuring us since they are the ones paying for it.

Whops forgot to add, we've been engaged since June 2009! and looking since then as well.
