Where to go on our Honeymoon???

Hi everyone,

We recently got married (memorial day weekend) and are finally getting around to planning our honeymoon.   Of course, we don't know where to go and/or when...

We think we are leaning more towards a winter or 1-yr anniversary type of honeymoon but it may depend on where we end up going.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go in the caribean or south america?  We like the idea of some adventure but also would like to be able to lazy around a bit (we'd say go to the beach but we get bored going to local beaches so assume we will on our honeymoon as well).

We'd like to go to the Galapagos but really don't know if it's too expensive.  I think, all in all, we'd like to spend around $5k for a 8 to 12 day vacation...maybe a little longer if work and/or budget permits!

If you're considering Mexico, you should look into the Valentin Imperial Maya. It's a great resort with fantastic reviews, but lower prices than I saw for other resorts in the area. They've got a beach and a huge pool if you want to try the lazying around bit, but you can also go on excursions to Xplor (ziplining, underwater river swimming, ATV driving), Xel-Ha (dolphin and manatee swimming, snorkling with fish and stingrays, small cliff jumping and cenote swimming) or Xcaret (Mexican cultural park- we didn't go here but it looked fantastic). These parks are all 1/2 hour to an hour away by bus.

I would look into Costa Rica by the sound of your interests.

You can do a 3 part tour.  You can stay close to the volcanos, hike in the cloud forest and also have a beach stay.  You get eco-tourism, nature and relaxation.  It's a gorgeous place to visit and definitely within a cheaper price range than Galapagos.  (I would die to go to Galapagos for my HM as well - but maybe on an anniversary trip).

I suggest Costa Rica as well... Fiance and I just returned from there and it was amazing.. We spent about $4000 for an 8 vacation there.  We got to hike to volcanoes, go ziplining, white water rafting, and finished our trip off with a few relaxing days at the beach.  Both of us absolutely loved it!
