June Honeymoon help!

Hi girls,

FI and I are getting married in June and were originally going to hold off on a honeymoon. The more I've been thinking about it and looking at our upcoming schedules, it appears that June may actually be the most convenient time for us to go. We aren't really big travelers, so I do plan on contacting a TA, but I wanted to get some imput from you guys before I just let the TA take charge.

Where would you suggest for somewhere warm, romantic, couples oriented, nice beaches, plenty of activities, good food, nightlife, maybe some arts or shows? We're looking to go away for a MAX of 5 days and have a budget of about 2,000 and would like to keep it as affordable as possible.

Would a bermuda cruise be nice? An all inclusive resort? I should also mention that I HATE flying so if we flew I wouldn't want to be in the air more than 2-3 hrs.

With all that being said, I welcome any suggestions. TIA!

Re: June Honeymoon help!

  • you can't fly far from ny in 2-3 hours-you wouldn't make it to florida.
why not a cruise to the caribbean?

  • I would definately recommend a cruise to the bahamas or bermuda. from my own researching experience, I've found that from CT, bahamas takes longer to get to the port (the ports are in florida), but although bermuda cruises leave closer to the NY/CT area, they are more expensive. Just last week I had put together a package on royal caribbean with a fligh fromJFK to miami for a 4 night cruise to the bahamas for $1900 for my husband and I TOTAL.

    goodluck!

  • I'd check out what tripadvisor says about various places along the eastern seaboard.  If you're going on a cruise, you're probably not going to find a whole lot in the way of beaches.  You WILL be able to lay out by the pool, but it's not quite like spending a whole day relaxed by the beach.  Plus, when I did a cruise, I was forever petrified that I was going to miss the boat.  If you're along the eastern seaboard, you'll probably find a place with great beaches, not too crowded, awesome nightlife, and not too expensive.  Plus, depending on where, you can drive instead of flying.  I'd check out the Hamptons, Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach, Ocean City/Assateague Island, etc.
  • Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and Carnival all leave out of New York/New Jersey if you wanted to do a cruise. FI's parents won't fly so they take a cruise out of there every year in July. They've done the Bermuda cruise and several Eastern Caribbean cruises leaving from NY or NJ and they always have a great time.

There are lots of 5 night Bermuda cruises that leave from Boston, NY, and NJ in June. HTH!
  • I highly recommend Bermuda! Its the most beautiful island, the people are great, and its less than a 2 hr. flight from NY/NJ.  If you go, stay at THE REEFS, its stunning!  http://www.thereefs.com/
  • a cruise. You can do a cruise for about $1,200 leaving $800 for excursions!

  • I guess it depends on your budget...we actually waited till the last minute and are so glad we were able to get away!
  • The All Inclusive we are staying at on the Riviera Maya (just outside of Cancun) has GREAT prices--you can get 5 nights (all inclusive) for $1190, which leaves plenty for flights/fun while you are there.  It is part of the Paradisus chain.
  • Congratulations! From what you described, it sounds like Secrets Capri in the Riviera Maya, Mexico would be the perfect spot for your honeymoon. The resort is both all-inclusive and adult’s only. It’s also very romantic and extremely intimate featuring under 300 rooms. In my opinion, the resort creates the perfect balance between fun and relaxation. It offers numerous activities during the day and some great shows at night. The beach and pools are also ideal for lounging. As for the food, Secrets has some of the best I’ve experienced at an all-inclusive. I definitely think you should look into honeymooning here. Have a great one!
