Jalousie Plantation-St. Lucia: mistake?

We've booked this place for our honeymoon and I'm now reading some pretty unfavorable reviews...most of the ones I read prior to booking several weeks ago(on Trip Advisor) were outstanding.  Recent ones...not so good.
Anyone here have experience with Jalousie?  We're set on St. Lucia, as we have our flights...the hotel can still be changed though.

Going in October so help please!  Thanks!

We went to Jalousie Beach, which I believe is part of that hotel {don't quote me on that tho}.... it's between the Pitons {which we went during our day tour - we took a boat taxi there via Cosol Tours}. It was really nice to see the island, but it was definitely my least favorite beach. 

The sand was rocky and not lush and the water was clear, but all rocks, not sand... it's a volcanic island so a ton of the beaches are a lot of rocks. It also didn't have that true Caribbean beach water.

what are the negative reviews about? i find a LOT of negative reviews for places regarding things that people could've known about if they had bothered doing their research before.

Mostly the rooms being in need of renovation...thiis resort has a mix of new and old rooms....then I think once your room stinks, nothing good comes after that!

I agree, though....people who are shocked at the bugs...well...it's a RAINFOREST!

and how many complained of stinky rooms? or was it just that they were older rooms? older isn't necessarily bad-it's just older. i probably wouldn't be TOO concerned about that.
and yes-the bugs thing always makes me giggle too
