Belize or Costa Rica??

Hey Ladies!  Just wondering if anyone has been to Belize or Costa Rica or both...  I am trying to decide where to go for my honeymoon in May.  Both offer beach and relaxation and jungle and dventure, I just want to figure out which is better.  I am interested in a really nice resort, luxurious I guess, maybe even more than one.

We looked at lots of places, including Beliza, Mexico and Greece, and figured we could get the best deal for our money in Costa Rica.  We're staying for 11 nights, 12 days, in San Jose, Arenal and Uvita, and the hotels, flights and transportation between areas is running us $3,500.  The hotels are all top notch (no AIs though) and they all include breakfast (and a few extras for one).

Hi...I have friends that went to Belize and they were not that impressed.  I absolutely love costa Rica!!  I have been been to Costa Rica 3 times and I  it there.  When my husband proposed I could not think of anywhere better to celebrate our honeymoon then Costa Rica.   We stayed at the most beautiful private villa deep in the rain forest above Quepos.  It was a romantic and fun honeymoon.  The view from the bedroom is SPECTACULAR and we enjoyed romantic evenings with the sounds of the jungle all around us.  Just like you see in the movies, we had our own private waterfall that we swam in.  I love all of the activities that are available in the area.  Two of my favorite adventures are the zip line and the day excursion renting ATV's.  After the ATV ride  my hubby and I were covered in mud and laughing it was the BEST day!!   We were well pampered with our own private chef and the food was delicious. My hubby and I loved the walks in the rain forest.  We could hear Howler monkey's in the distance and that was a real treat.  I would recommend this honeymoon to everyone and we can't wait to go back on our 5th anniversary.  We found our perfect honeymoon spot at www.mytropicalhoneymoon.com..Congrats on your up coming wedding

Hi!  I've been to both.  What specifically are you wondering about?  We spent more time on the beach in Belize and more time in the jungle in Costa Rica.  I think I liked Costa Rica a little bit more, mostly because I found Belize slightly lacking in the culture/food aspects, but both are beautiful countries.

May in Costa Rica is considered their "Green Season", which is their off season due to all the rain they get. I was reading that depending on which part of the country you visit, you can expect only 5 hours of sunshine a day, starting in the morning, and then clouds roll in from mid day on.

Not ideal honeymoon weather if you were looking for sunny beaches!

Usually in May-June, you get sunshine in the morning, followed by maybe a shower in the late afternoon and/or overnight, but not heavy, continuing rain all afternoon and evening.  Even with clouds, it's still usually got highs in the upper 70's to mid 90's, and lows only down to the upper 60's to mid 70's.  Plus if you like wildlife, there's much more of it in the green season, and the rainforest is much more lush.  Depending on when you go in May, you could have nothing but sunny days, as there's no set time that the green season absolutely has to start (it usually kicks in later in the month however).
