Wedding at a Renaissance Faire

I was wondering if anyone had actually been to a wedding at any of the renaissance faires in Florida.  We really want to do it at a faire, but I haven't actually been to any of them here in FL.  Their package prices all seem reasonable, and of course vary in services, but overall sound great.  I don't know if I should just do a renaissance theme at a normal venue (church, hotel, park) or if it would really be missing the atsmosphere.  I've been to the GA renaissance faire, but it is a more permanent place, and I don't know if the faires here in FL are going to look cheesy, like fake cardboard buildings or something.  If someone has any opinions or comments on the faires here locally, or if anyone has any ideas for venues that would compliment the theme, please help!

We went to the Ren Fest in Tampa a couple of years ago. It doesn't look cheesy, but it's definitely a carnival atmosphere. I guess there's something to be said for the hubbub of the festivals and the authenticity that provides. Two things you will miss if you do a renaissance theme at a 'regular' venue - the smell of horse poop and dirty feet! ;)

I'm actually in Tampa, but this caught my eye. There is a Renaissance Fair in Tampa that is a lot of fun. They do a pretty good job. Granted, I haven't been to another one. But it is going on for one more week here, you should come check it out. That way you generally know what you are getting. If you contact them and tell them you are interested in doing a wedding next year, they may even let you in for free. You have the right time of year, I think your date was the weekend it started this year. Good luck!

Personally, I think that Renaissance Fairs attract an "element" that I would not want at my wedding. I agree with PP: " I guess there's something to be said for the hubbub of the festivals and the authenticity that it provides."
Having said that you could always do the theme and hire some of the "cast and crew" to be your drivers, bar tenders, etc. The decorations would be really fun and your bridal party attire can follow the theme as well. Then you are not sharing your day with a bunch of strangers in a very strange place...
