Only 2 months to plan a small wedding HELP!

I'm getting married in July 2012, just 2 months from now. My fiance doesn't want a hotel wedding, so the Grand Bohemian is out of the list. (They had the date available and they would take care of almost everything). In summary is just a small wedding for no more than 15 guests.

My first choice would have been an outdoor wedding at night with twinkle lights etc by a big tree with spanish moss but it's too hot for that I guess. I thought of just having a ceremony at the Lakeside Gazebo in Cypress Grove Estatehouse and then doing a small dinner at Ruth Chris in a private room?

My other option (cheaper) would be a ceremony at the Kraft Azalea Park (Winter Park) and a dinner in the garden room at Bistro on the Park (Winter Park).

What do you guys think? I'll appreciate any suggestions!  Smile

  • What about the Rose Garden on Park Ave? I wanted to do it there but we ended up going with the Grand Bohemian(we are doing 25 guests- rooftop ceremony and rooftop sit down dinner- you are right they take care of almost everything! I am having the most relaxing wedding planning ever. I don't think of the Grand Bo as much as a traditional hotel b/c of all the amazing artwork but it is still a hotel and limited on the food.. I hate to say it but looking back I wish we had just done the Rose Garden and then Rav Pig for dinner)

Also if you are up for a flare, Cocina 214, off of Park Ave, has a private room

That's exactly what I was planning to do at the Grand Bohemian but once I told my fiancé about it he wasn't too thrilled because we originally wanted an outdoor (trees, nature etc) wedding.

I'm definitely adding the Rose Garden and Cocina 214 to my list of options!  If anyone else has any other suggestions please chime in!

    Thanks!  <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />
  • Kraft and the Rose Garden are both beautiful sites!  I also like the idea of the Ravenous Pig and Bistro on the Park.  You're doing well and 2 months is definitely doable with such a small wedding.

In regards to the tree, I am guessing you already checked the Maitland Art Center.  They may already be booked but sometimes you might be surprised.  http://184.172.50.87/~artweb/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Rentals-Facilities.pdf
  • Since you mention outdoors, lakeside and your first choice was downtown, let me suggest 310 Lakeside.  They have a privateroom that can easily accomodate 15 people, plus a dance floor, cake table, gift table, etc.  They can even close the curtain on one half so you can have a coctail hour space too, separate from the actual dinner space.

You can get married outside at Lake Eola...whether you do it at the pavillion or just under a tree with rented chairs.  And then have the reception at 310.  (We had our engagement party there, that is why I recommend it).

The event coordinator at 310 (Hillary) did everything to help us! She was so amazing!  Plus the space is great and the food is awesome too! And the price is very reasonable.

Good luck!!! I hope they have your date!!!

  • Paradise Cove is a little pricey but I'm sure they can accommodate you. It is outside so I'm not sure if that is still something you are considering. :)

  • There is also the tree outside of the Mennello on the lake (off of 17-9) they do weddings there.

And the Polasek Museum on Fairbanks in Winter Park has tons of different options and they cater to small ceremonys and are really affordable!
  • I think I'm going with the Kraft Azalea Park for the ceremony and The Bistro on Park Avenue for the dinner.

I still need to decide where to order the cake and a photographer. Love Studio 222 but soo expensive, and I only need a photographer for 2 or 3 hours.

Also any ideas for honeymoon? I still don't know what to do  -_-

Thanks all for your suggestions!  :D
  • Cake = Publix or Sam's; if $$$ you could use Sprinkles in Winter Park

Photographer = try craigslist if no recs; for example: http://orlando.craigslist.org/crs/3000871555.html

Oh and honeymoon depends on your budget and where you want to go.  You can priceline or hotwire a hotel for way below the regular booking fees.  If you want to stay local you can get a 4 star or higher hotel in Orlando for $60-70 a night so long as there isn't a convention in town (check out by SeaWorld, we used to get the Renaissance resort all the time.)  And Daytona Beach is usually pretty cheap as well.  I think we pricelined the old Adam's Mark (not sure what it's called now) for $70-80 a night and we were booked in rooms in the new tower.

I'm getting married at 310 Lakeside. Everything that deanabuonincont...  is true. We are having our ceremony of 20 on the patio. Hiliary is so very wonderful.

Cruises are nice and easy for a honeymoon also all inclusive resorts especially if you and FH like to drink.
  • I've heard good things about 310 Lakeside but after a lot of searching I think I already have a pretty good idea of the venues so hoepfully it will all work out!

Here is the link to my pinterest wedding board in case anyone is interested in picking up some ideas for their wedding, i think that once you look through my pins you can see the theme i'm going for lol. I'll appreciate any feedback or suggestions!
