Yup, I really love her work & the prices are great. I personally haven't used her yet since my wedding isn't until March though. I'm sure you'll get a few responses from girls who have used her though, I know a number of this board have. :)

I'm using her in a month and a half (that's so scary- I have so much to do).

I think she is an awesome photographer especially for the price she charges.

I'm in the minority that would NOT recommend her. Our wedding was about 6 weeks ago and we had some pretty serious difficulties with her. However, our pictures did turn out reasonable considering the pricing I suppose....and like I said, most people do recommend her, I suppose everyone gets an off day!!

I also would not recommend her.  I had a lot of difficulty with her and her professionalism in handling certain situations.  I am not getting married until next month, but have since found another photographer

Yes please explain what happened... I have never read any bad reviews about her and this is scaring me! Would you recommend someone else around the same price range that you liked better?

I'm using photography by marlyn. He pricing is the same. I met with both Jessica and Marlyn. Marlyn is more of my personality which is ultimately why I chose her, I just got a better feeling from her.

I am using Tab Mccausland  now.

Here's the basics of what happened.  JL was one of the first vendors I booked.  I loved her work.  When I met with her we went over a few things I wanted to do.  One of them was e-pics either at the Amway Arena, or pics with our dogs.  I was a little worried about her personality, bc she seemed kind of quiet, and that could be a problem with getting FI out of his quiet shell.  But, I figured that doing e-pics before the wedding would help FI in that aspect.

Fast forward to about October last year.  I had gone through nearly two months of  planning and discussing with the Orlando Magic about taking e-pics at the arena.  Lots of hoops (haha) to jump through.  Long story short:  there were 3 stipulations. We had to do it during a pre season game.  we couldn't take pics on the court til AFTER the game, and the camera lens couldn't be more than 6 inches long.

So- I let JL know these things.  I told her that I'd be getting her ticket to the game, and that I'd like both pics outside the arena, and the ones on the court.  Which meant pics both before and after the game.  And I let her know about the lens being no more than 6 inches.

Her reply to me was that I had to choose either before or after the game. She did  not want to be there for the entire thing.  And, when she measured her lens, she said she had nothing smaller than 8 inches.

So- I am of course pissed, and also did some investigating, and found that that standard professional cameras come with lenses less than 6 inches in length.

That is what STARTED my problems with her.  I am not going to go into details about all the rest, but just know it all left a really bad taste in my mouth, and I have since gone with a different photographer.

(Which,btw- Tab jumped at the opportunity for e-pics at the arena, and did a great job)

I will post the full story when I do my vendor reviews after the wedding, so that other engaged girls will know.

JL did tell me that my situation was a "learning experience" and that she won't let it happen like this again, if you want to take that for what it's worth.

Good luck!  And I think this is longer than I really intended it to be... Oops :-)

No I appreciate the honesty! I already booked her so I'm not backing out now because of the deposit... but it's good to know. What concerns me is if she's a no show. She said it's never happened but she has no guarantee for a backup. She said she would 100% get a backup for us if she wasn't able to come for some reason (but said she had never had to no show for a wedding in the past) but wouldn't put it in writing. I'm going on her word & she said she wouldn't be willing to ruin her reputation by not showing up or providing a backup, which I get... but with the few bad experiences I'm hoping she will really uphold that. We will see!

Just FYI, while she wasn't a "No show" to my wedding...she was late. And more annoyingly to me, didn't call me to tell me that she would be until 25 minutes after she should have already been there. Supposedly, my wedding was the first time it had every happened though. *shrug*.

That being said, somewhat in the same fashion as Ashley, I had ALOT of problems with her. Attitude and Professionalism being some of the biggest. I will go into more detail in my vendor reviews (hopefully coming within a week!) but I am also waiting on one last thing for her, and don't want to really get to into the details until I have everything done and and over with for good.

I used Jessica Leigh as my photographer 2/28/10. I am very pleased with my photos especially since DH and I are not very photogenic. I never had and problems with her and she was on time for the wedding and I even think she stayed a bit longer than I had booked her for. If you would like to see the photos, they are on her site...email me at screen name at yahoo dot com and I will send you the info.

the problems are generally not with her final product. the problems tend to be with her professionalism, flexibility, communication, and ability to help coach with poses while she is shooting. but, with most vendors you will get mixed opinions. and her prices are very good!

Someone else on here had horrible problems with her.  She didn't show up to the wedding because she had a boil on her leg and called the day before.  She sent two assistants instead and the assistants took horrible photos that had bad lighting and she is still waiting to get all of her photos back a month later.

Theresa: I don't think that it was Jessica with the boil, I think it was Leigh Taylor..But, I could be wrong..?

Sarah hit the nail on the head. That's the best way to describe my experience! :)

I actually had a great experience with Jessica Leigh. She arrived an hour early and even stayed later than we paid. I don't think she took a break the entire wedding. She got great shots of everyone dancing (apparently she was laying on the floor and standing on chairs to get different angels). I think her pictures were amazing, especially for the price. My only complaint would be the time it took for me to get my pictures back. The contract stated 16 days for the disc but it was actually closer to 6 weeks. My pics are still on her website (prior to 2/19). Event code "shannontommy" if you want to check her work out. Best of luck!
