Anyone been to Aruba?

It was between Aruba and St. Lucia for my honeymoon, until I found out that it would be an all day, two layover flight to St. Lucia... so I am trying to avoid that. That being said I've heard that Aruba is very windy. Is this true? Is it more windy certain times of the year? If it is windy, is it just breezy (like Hawaii in the summer) or is it bad wind that drives you crazy? Any help or advice would really help! Thanks!

  • Aruba is very windy- like sometimes you will be standing on the beach and the wind will pick up sand and sting your legs.  Not sure if it is worse at certain times of the year, though.  I was there in the summer at a very hot time, and laying by the pool, the wind was actually quite nice, but on the beach it could really blow the sand around.

  • The wind wasn't too bad, it was definitely windy but not to the point where it made it unenjoyable. We have a few funny pictures where my hair is going all crazy from the wind but those were taken on boats from a snorkeling trip. One of the pictures actually shows a piece of my hair standing straight up. Haha..

As pp mentioned, it's VERY hot down there, and the wind helps with the heat.
  • I just read that July and August are the least windy. We're going in August.

  • I went a few years ago in July, yes Aruba is windy but it's one of my favorite islands! The food is awesome! It's always 80 degrees and it rained for 5 minutes total! You will have fun just remember to re-apply your sunscreen because the wind can fool you into thinking you are not burnt when you really are.

  • Went in August- it was HOT and slightly breezy- the breeze helped keep us cool.  I never once felt that it was windy- no sand being kicked up or anything like that, just a nice breeze :) its beautiful there.
  • Thank you so much for your responces! I am soooo excited now! If you have any recomendations on which resort you loved that would be great! I am looking at All-Inclusives!
