Iberostar Resorts in Riviera Maya...??

Has anyone stayed at any of the Iberostar resorts in Riviera Maya?  I'm specifically interested in rants, raves, and/or reviews about Quetzal, Grand Hotel Paraiso, and Paraiso Lindo.

TIA!!

Re: Iberostar Resorts in Riviera Maya...??

  • I've stayed at the Lindo twice and the Quetzal/Tucan once. Loved both hotels! I liked the Lindo better because the beach appeared to be nicer and there are soo many places to eat. Lindo has beautiful pool...and you can also use all the facilities of the cheaper hotels in the complex (del mar and another i can't think of the name). Also, the restuarants at the Quetzal weren't air conditioned so it was hot eating dinnfer in August - but we were in Mexico after all. I think we are going to stay at the Grand for our honeymoon because it gets such great reviews and because it's the only adults only iberostar. They were building it last time i was at the Lindo but it looked beautiful!! Another thing to factor in is that the Quetzal is really close to Playa Del Carmen, you can take a 5 minute free bus ride if i remember correctly.
  • knsbride - I know there are a lot of animals running wild at the Quetzal... any problems with them??

  • None at all...they were really fun to watch and take pictures of! We were in a first floor room and would hang our wet bathing suits and stuff on the balcony and never had any problems. Let me know if you have any other questions about either the Quetzal or the Lindo.
  • i went to the lindo twice and absolutely loved it. thats where we are thinking of having our wedding. upscale service, great rooms, lot of food options. only thing i didnt like is that its too far from town. im not sure if they still offer the shuttle service.

if you want to stay close to town id look at tucan or quetzel. but i also heard the animals are all over the place there. didnt have that experience with lindo if you count the stray cat or two.

  • I think it depends on how upscale you want to go.  We looked at a few of the Iberostars including the LIndo that the others mentioned above.  They are huge huge huge resorts. You need to hop a golf cart to get from one end to the beach.  And the bedding in the rooms is your older ugly floral patterns.  The environment is what's the selling point on those resorts- true Mexican vibrant colors.  If you're looking to get pampered though, shell the extra dough for the Grand Iberostar, it doesn't even compare to the lower grade versions.
