Majestic Colonial - PC, Dominican

Has anyone stayed at this resort? Good/Bad experiences? FI and I are looking into it as it seems we can get a pretty good deal here but I like to hear about other's experiences there first! Thanks!

Stayed there with my BF a few winters ago. Beautiful resort, beach, pool etc. But wouldn't stay there again because we got sick mid-week from the buffet (and in the most unromantic of ways)

I stayed here with a friend about 4 years ago.  Last year we went back with a group of friends and stayed at the sister resort (RIGHT next door) called Majestic Elegance.  Majestic Elegance had just opened so everything is newer there.  We had a great time both trips and I loved everything about both resorts.  The property is beautiful, the pool is fantastic and the beach is stunning.  I would describe the food as average.  That being said, there is always food available, lots of options for food (buffet, different types of restaurants, huge breakfast buffet) and we had no problems getting into the restaurants. Their prices are so reasonble and I do think it's a great deal.  They have an entertainment team that runs contests, fitness classes, general entertainment and I didn't find it to be cheesy.  I will say that I do not recall seeing many couples there, it doesn't really strike me as a honeymooners type of place.  I think they both have an adults club you can upgrade to that is adults only and it's own pool, I think that would make the resort feel more romantic.  Keep in mind that I was there with friends each time, so I wasn't as tuned into the couples that were there.

  • We went to the Majestic Elegance right next door for our honeymoon in July.  We upgraded to the Elegance Club and thought it was well worth the extra money.  We had a great time and would go back in a heartbeat!  The Colonial seems more aimed towards families than the Elegance.  There were definitely families at the Elegance (Elegance Club is adults only) but less than at the Colonial.
