If you have already honeymooned there, did you have a lot of rainy/cloudy days?

If you are planning on honeymooning in Mexico are you worried about bad weather?

We're considering going to Riviera Maya to save a little bit of $, I just wonder how the weather will be. Getting married in August means most tropical places will be susceptibe to hurricanes.

We're going to Riviera Maya the first week of August, also to save money. I was a little concerned about the weather too, so we decided to spend the extra $200 on traveler's insurance to give us a little more flexibility.

I think unless you go down there in the middle of a hurricane (which no travel agent would probably make you do), you're likely to get enough nice days along with maybe some rainy days. Just use the rainy days for some "indoor activities"

I'm curious to see what people who have been down there have to say though.

I dont know how much help I am to you but, My dad and step mom own a travel agency and have traveled many times. We are getting married in May of 2011 so I asked them about Riviera Mya and hurricans as may is the beginning. They said they have never had any problems, the one time a hurricane did come through they had really bad rain for a day or two and they just hung out inside. They said there is alot to do within the hotels as well as outside for those reasons. They also, highly recommend riviera mya vs like cancun - its cheaper, resorts are larger and newer, more pools ect.

we went 3 weeks after wilma. so far from just a day or 2 of rain. the area was wrecked.
trip insurance can help you if your destination is hit by a bad storm and airport is closed or if you have weather related cancellation/interruption.
i've used insuremytrip.com for years to purchase policies-put in your info and compare policies, coverages, terms, limits, exclusions.

I went to the Riviera Maya in June for a vacation. It was sunny in the morning, rained in the afternoon, and then cleared up around dinner time. We used the afternoons for nap time and to get ready for dinner, so it wouldn't out fine.

Ditto pp on getting insurance.
