Best Bang for our Buck?

We have a relatively small budget for our honeymoon- $2,000 is the top end (including everything). We would like to get the most for our money. We are going the first week in June and are thinking somewhere beachy- we have looked at everything from Maine (we are just afraid Maine will be too cool) to Siesta Key, FL to Monterey Bay, CA to a Carribean cruise and beyond. We are having a hard time finding a nice place/ air fare that isn't pushing our budget. We are from Georgia, so FL is not as appealing, yet we have never been to the South end and have heard it is beautiful. So confused. I wa wondering about other places we are yet to think of as well. Suggestions?

<div>You'd probably get the most bang for your buck at an all-inclusive in Jamaica, PuntaCana (in the Domincan Republic), or Mexico.  That said, I've also heard Key West is a really nice place to vacation (several coworkers have gone and raved about it).  I live in New York, and in early June, Maine will definitely be too cool.  It's beautiful regardless, but you won't get to enjoy the beaches at that time of year.</div>

Cruises!  we are doing that for our honeymoon a carribean cruise for about $1300 for 7 days. There are some pretty good deals. plus you could probably drive to a port in FL so there is no airfare that would save. We were going to drive to either NYC or Marylnad to catch a cruise but we found a better one we liked more leaving from Puerto Rico and then after the cruise we are spending a few days enjoying Puerto Rico.

  • I agree with pp - a cruise, Mexico, Dominican Republic or Jamaica will all give you a good value for your budget.

  • I would go for a cruise 100%. Since you're close enough, you could probably drive to the ports in South Florida. Cruises are pre-paid and you know exactly what you'll pay. The only additional expenses would be drinks and any excurisions you might wanna do.
We did the Princess eastern caribbean not too long ago and it was awesome. It does Bahamas, St. Maartin, St. Thomas and Turk&Caicos. All beautiful and since it was our first time everywhere we didn't pay for any additional excursions, just cab fare to take us to the beaches.
Also, Princess allows you to bring your own wine to drink in the room, so that was great. If you go, def get a balcony room. We went in June and I believe it was a bit less than 2k. Food was really good also  =D  ....hth!!
  • Since you live in GA I would definitely recommend and AI in the caribbean, since you would save on flights it would definitely put it in your budget, look into mexico, domincan republic and jamaica, those will give you the most bang for you buck. Also cruises since you could go out of a port in FL
  • Thank you so much for all the advice!
