Outdoor wedding - Don't wanna get dirt on my dress!

I want an outdoor wedding, but I also want a long dress and don't want to get dirt on it. Someone told me there's ways to get around that but never really explained - anyone have any ideas? Any would be appreciated, thank you.

  • The underside of the hem of you dress is going to get dirty. Period.  Just learn to let it go!

<div>Pretty much.  I've hear people renting carpet aisle runners, but never seen it.  I don't recommend a fabric aisle runner for the outdoors.  People's heels get stuck in them and they blow around.  Not good.  </div>

  • even if your wedding was inside, the hem of your dress would be dirty. I wouldn't worry about it.

  • I just bought carpeted aisle runners. They actually arrived today.  they are NOT cheap.  But, for where I'm having the wedding, it was worth it to me.  The carpet is rubber backed, so it won't get wet in the grass and my heels won't sink through them.  You can rent them, although, I called about 8 rental places and they only had red carpet runners.

the place I bought mine sells carpet runners and "turf" runners (see links below).  I got the turf ones, because I have to cover a LOT of ground (my aisle walk is VERY long) and the turf runners were cheaper.

I don't mind the bottom of my dress getting dirty during the reception, but the grass area where we are having the ceremony tends to have geese hanging around. I don't want fresh slimy goose poo on my dress, so I spent the money for these aisle runners.

Do NOT use the fabric/linen ones for an outdoor wedding.  They are a huge tripping hazard.

<div>This.  It's just one of those things that goes along with wearing a white dress.  During the (outdoor) ceremony and pictures I got a little bit of dirt on the underside, though nothing is noticeable in any of my photos.   I remember the hem getting fairly dirty at the (indoor) reception, but it's not noticeable in any photographs (either because of the lighting/shadowing or because my photographer did a good job editing out any dirt).  </div>

  • Like everyone else said, your dress will almost certainly get dirty on the bottom.  Just set aside money to have it preserved after the wedding, or you can do a TTD session.
  • Hi! We just had our wedding two weeks ago and it was all outdoors on a farm/orchard setting. The only part of my dress that got a little dirt on it was the underneath part of my long train. Once it was bustled, it was perfectly fine, even when I sat down in the grass for pictures on a small burlap sack. Not a spot. I think you would only have a problem if it was muddy or if the dirt was really loose.
