Lace Dress....on grass?

Hi Ladies! Only 90 days til "I Do" and the latest question on my mind is how my lace dress will look on grass. I have a decent length train that is all lace and I'm not sure how the lace detailing will look on grass...will the detail show clearly? Anyone have any pics of something similar?

I'm considering getting a carpet runner so that the lace detail will show better, but they are a bit expensive.

Thanks!

Re: Lace Dress....on grass?

  • I personally think runners outside are a waste of money and huge hassle.
I am having an outdoor wedding with a lace dress, and I'm not worried about it.
  • Yeah i think its totally fine. If you had a white runner then it would be harder to see, the green grass will make it stand out more if anything.

  • Not to mention that a runner outside would be more of a tripping hazzard than anything as well, especially if your wearing heels.

  • I guess I wasn't worried about it, but I had a pretty small train. I agree with Madison, I think a runner would be more of a hassle than a benefit to you.

  • I have a lace dress as well and to be honest that hasnt even crossed my mind. I would stay away from the runner because as other pps have said it would be a hassle to walk on and can be a hazard.

Hi there, My ceremony space is an outdoor courtyard in a garden. However the ground varies from a red gravel/ sand to concrete rocks. My concern was the red dust staining my dress from dragging through it, not so much how the lace detail of my dress would look. I love how my dress looks once it was bustled and I have a dream it was bright pink from dragging in the ground.  I too so thought runners were really exspensive. My mother's solution was for me to pick out a bolt of muslim fabric (my dress is ivory and all the runners sold in stores seemed to be pure white), I bought 24 yards of that and I will carry my train until the area where the runner starts. I was able to buy 72 feet of fabric for around $35.00 because I waited till I received a 50% off coupon from JoAnn fabrics.  That might be someting to consider.

  • Your dress is going to get dirty if you are outside, but who cares! You'll wear it one day and the photographer can airbrush out any obvoius spots. Mine is filthy. I sat in grass, leaned on buildings and danced over more than a few spills. Don't worry too much about your dress on the grass. The photographer will also get close ups of your dress detail so you don't need to worry about how it looks against the grass.

  • Thanks Ladies, but I'm not so much worried about the dress getting dirty. The real beauty of my dress is the back (the front is nice too :-)), but I wasn't sure how the lace detail would look on the grass.

Also, I'm not talking about buying a regular fabric runner, I know they don't work on grass, but I hear actual carpet runners, which are thicker, work.

    Thanks
  • Mine is lace too but I have chosed to have a fishtail train ( I am  not the most graceful tomboy, and a full train scares the bejeuses out of me LOL).  I think your dress will look beautiful on the grass.  By the end of the day, the train and hem will be filthy so don't fret, just enjoy your day, leave it to the professionals to get the stains and dirt out.
