Paris/ Rome In the fall??

Any one have any suggestions for a trip to paris or rome or both in the fall?? We are getting married OCt 7th 2011. And ive just started our honeymoon search. We both thought Australia but I cant find anything under $5000 a person for that, so then I was thinking Europe..Any suggestions where I can find good deals on this?? anyone else going there this time of year?? Any info would be helpful !!! thanks!!

The best advise I can give you in to go online to Rick Steves Europe, there is so much information its very helpful.  Look at the graffitti (sp) board and you can find and post questions there. 

I am currently trying to also figure out going to Europe at this time.

We went to Rome on our HM and we rented an apartment rather than staying in hotels.  We saved a TON of money that way, and we had an amazing location right near the Vatican.  You can look into renting apartments on sites like vrbo.com.  We ended up renting ours through a company called Leisure in Rome and it was really easy.

We also kept costs down by routing through other cities to get to Italy.  Direct flights from here to there were SUPER expensive when we booked, so we went through Amsterdam on the way there and Dublin on the way back b/c the flights were less than 1/4 what the prices directly to/from Italy would have been.  Maybe look at flight routes and choose your second city based on airfare prices.

I can't speak about Rome, but Paris is absolutely fantastic in october.  Definitely do it.  But, try to stay in either an apartment or a french local hotel.  NO big chains like the Hilton or Marriott.

thanks everyone! Ive been to paris before as a student ambassador for the US, but I was 17 and didnt have to make the travel plans or anything..and being 17 I didnt really pay attention to where we stayed kinda thing..or costs..and we went in the summer. Im going to check out the suggested websites..renting an apt..never would of though of that!! thanks again!!
