First Check and New Venue space opening up!

I'm very excited to say, I've done my first check!  I was in Miami this weekend and I bought my wedding dress.  So happy!  I'll have to go back over the summer for alternations, but I was planning on traveling back down at least another 1-2 times so I'll make it part of a bigger visit.

Unfortunately, I still haven't decided on a ceremony site.  We went ALL over the place!!  There's a new park that opens up next week in Palmetto Bay, called Thalatta Park.  If you want Deering Estate views without Deering Estates prices, I'd check that place out.

Unfortunately, for a Sat wedding you have to rent out the entire property with a hefty price tag of $3500, but if you're getting married on a weekday it's $500; weekend $1000 (I assume that's excluding Saturday).

Why don't you see the price for a Sunday wedding. That is what I am doing and I am saving on everything.

Just got engaged and have been dreaming of a deering estate wedding... however not really wanting to spend the amount of money just for the venue with nothing else included. Thalatta Estate Park looks amazing. However, having trouble finding the links you guys are discussing. Would you mind posting them? I'd appreciate it sooo much!

if you add Village of Palmetto Bay on Facebook, you can view the photos of the Thalatta estate as it stands. I visited the grand opening this past Sunday and while the place is beautiful I would not compare it to Deering. I am also checking venues for my wedding next year. Why would I say no to Thalatta? There is a HUGE modern white mansion right up against the property!!!! It was very distracting, unlike Deering property, where all you see are trees and ocean. The Thalatta view is not as beautiful, even though it's just a block away. I would do Thalatta for a bridal shower or baby shower, but not for my wedding.

@ mickipakini:  I think that's a pretty accurate description.  I only cared about the ocean view and the mansion didn't bother me, but it might for others.  I think a bridal or baby shower would be lovely there.

I think what bothered me more was the canal on the other side then the mansion.
