Disappointed with Gil Sosa- florist UNCHECK

Spoke to him to follow up - promised me a quote today after my follow up request. No quote, no email, no phone call. Bad start to the relationship - I'll call it my loss, I guess... but I can't deal with the unreliable mess while planning destination.: (

Aww, sorry to hear this millenia! Gil's does great work, but you do have to stay on him for follow up.  I hope you find another florist. What's your budget? Maybe we may have some suggestions.

Millenia,I'm so sorry you feel like this. All I can tell you is that Gil was extremely busy this weekend and he doesn't like to just SPIT OUT quotes. He actually sits there and takes time on them. If you have seen any of his quotes, they are full word documents with pics and specific descriptions on the flowers that have been discussed. If you can.. hang in there.. he's SO TALENTED... It would be a shame to miss out on a great talent and a great deal.Hope this helps!

Thanks, Ayana. : (   I wasn't sure what my budget was, really. I've contacted about 5 florists and I still have no quote. I don't even know what a flower budget looks like for a small wedding like mine (75 guests)I'd say my budget is about $2500? I was hoping to get by slightly under but that's my number if I had to shout one out.

milenia - that is a very reasonable and very doable budget for 75 people. I think you'd be surprised - many vendors will be able to give you lovely floral within your range. Dont be discouraged :)

OMG, $2500 is totally doable! Hmmm, have you tried Petal Productions? They're not the cheapest, but I think Raffi can totally work within your budget esp. b/c you don't have a whole lot of people.  Their communication and followup is great.  You should give them a call.

Gil was quick with me but that is b/c I booked 2 weeks before the wedding. I hate waiting too. Like goldie said with that budget you can get a lot! I had 110 people and mine was under 900.

That is a great question millenia.  What is a fair budget for flowers?  I am having 120 guest and 4 bridesmaids.  I still haven't started florist hunting.

I am a gil bride and he's definetely not the best in communication but from what i've heard, he always pulls through day of and is quite affordablethat being said, if you don't want to deal with the lack of communication, which can be frustrating, i've heard great things about flowers by luenzo and daniel's event..you have a good floral buget so you should be able to find something...GL!

I am a potential Gil bride as well...I loved him at our initial meeting. He took like 5 days to finally send the quote and then it wasn't correct!--He had the wrong centerpieces and a bunch of stuff we didn't ask for. I asked him to amend it and he has yet to send me back the correction (its been another 5 days.) However, his work was amazing! I am willing to overlook the communication issues only because I know from this board that this is a chronic problem with him, but I am currently still shopping around for prices.

Another Gil disappointment over here....I spoke with him on the phone back in March and he assured me he was in front of his computer and had my date available and was putting my name in as we spoke. He asked me to email him all the specifics of my wedding. I did and kept pushing him to meet but he said we did not need to because there was plenty of time before the wedding. Then, I find out my date twin on this board has him booked for her wedding down in Miami. Since mine is in Fort Lauderdale, I know there's know way he can swing two. Granted I never put a deposit down but that's because he assured me I did not need to until we met. I have since emailed and called him with no response : (
TTC since May 2011 "Natural" BFP 1/2/2012 with cp 1/5/2012 5/2012: SA and CD 3 bloodwork perfect 6/2012: Clomid + Trigger + TI = BFN 8/2012: HSG all clear. Clomid TI cycle canceled due to thin lining 9/2012: Lap and Hysteroscopy: mild endo, uterine fibroids and septum, and ovarian cyst all removed

I'm with you ladies. I saw several recs for him, so I emailed him for an appointment when I booked my trip down to FL. We both had scheduling conflicts on the day of our appt, and he asked that I follow up with him via email and resend all my pix (I know exactly what I want for my wedding at this point). I sent him an email knowing he was going to have a crazy busy weekend, and asked to talk with him on Monday or Tuesday. I never got a reply. I emailed him again on Monday to confirm he received the email. No response. At this point, no matter how good or how cheap this guy is, this lack of communication is not worth it to me. I met with 3 florists, all of whom got me quotes within a week (and one of them was even snail mailed to me in Boston!). I'm very disappointed bc I've heard so many good things about him, but every other florist made me feel like a priority and at this point, Gil does not.

I'm with all you girls. I actually went through 3 florists. The first was a family friend that kept giving me the runaround. With that said it's always been known about Gil. He's best to talk on the phone. He was pretty great the day of my wedding and the prices were excellent.

Gil was one of my better wedding vendors, I loved his ideas and his prices.  He really does come through for you if you are willing to wait till your day is close for his attention.

I am with several of you girls. I saw all the recs on him and some of his work and called to make an appointment. He was very wishy washy when I got down there, and changed our appointment the day of to a couple days later and then ended up standing me up completely. I was disappointed and upset because he wasted two of my afternoons. But as foxtrot said his loss! I'll be going down again the weekend after next to meet with a couple more florists, and I have my fingers crossed for that trip! Good luck with florist meetings; I am not much help yet with this vendor. Hopefully soon!

I pretty much went though the same thing with Gil. When I finally set up a meeting, it wasn't even with him. He was also the highest quote I received $175 per cp.
