How much do you think the dress has to match the venue/time of day?

I am having a daytime (lunch) wedding outside at the Rusty Pelican.Do you think a heavy satin dress like this is too much?Would something out of a lighter material be better? I couldn't find the exact picture of what I am thinking, but maybe something like this?I don't want anything with a super long train, but is anything else fine, what do you think?I am going to the alfred angelo store outlet on saturday, I know I need to be prepared to buy my dress right then, but that terrifies me!

Honestly it would be best that your dress matches the style of your wedding. BUT at the same time I don't think you should find a dress that matches the venue, rather just look for the dress of your dreams and it'll never look out of place!

For daytime, outdoor ceremony, I would go with a lighter fabric. But if the satin gown makes you feel like a million bucks then go for it. I think it's all about feeling comfy and fabulous!

I would try to stick to light fabrics because it's outside. I would not be willing to compromise if I really loved a dress that did not "match" my venue. If I love it, I'm wearing it.

I agree with the PP's. I do think the second one might better fit the day time vibe and the venue and I also think something like that would look awesome on you!

Thanks eveyone, I kind of figured that would be what people would say. I really like this satin dress, but I am worried it is "too nice" for a daytime, but then again, I feel like it is my day and I can wear whatever I want. Especially since my FI wants to wear a tux.Tsura, Thanks for sharing, I really like the first two dresses on your bio. I haven't tried on anything like either of those, so that tells me I definitely need to keep looking.

The dress is beautiful!! I am having an outdoor wedding as well, and I love the look of dresses that tend to be made of heavier materials. I'll be honest with you, I got hot just in the dressing room and in the store, I cannot imagine how I would feel with so many layers and FL humidity. I opted for a lightweight dress that's very breathable. As much as I loved the more formal look, I just worried that I wouldn't be comfortable and would wind up being miserable.

Don't worry about a theme/time/color/look when it comes to a dress. You only get to wear it once so don't regret not going with your 1st choice for fear of it not matching. It's your day so do what you want, either way spot light will be on you. I'm personally dragging a lace dress and heels though sand and you know what? I don't care and I couldn't be happier!
