NWR: Elementary Education Teachers

Hi Ladies! Old Knottie here...I am in the process of going back to school and exploring my career options. I noticed on the salary schedule in Dadeschools.net they refer to Step One, Two etc. with different pay amounts. Does this refer to year one, two etc. Also, will any ladies share there experience so far with me based on flexibility, environment, co-workers etc. You may email me at mrshechavarria@yahoo.comBTW, my old knottie name was Betancourt05- HI!!!!

No. I can't remember exactly, but the difference between the steps is a couple of years. There should be a key somewhere defining it.  If you have advanced degrees you tack on $3k+ a year. And remember that they are subject to change with the contracts the union negotiates.I was very happy working for them, but I think it is very school dependant.  I was at a very good school, and had a great department head and was given so much freedom. I had a little trouble meshing with my co-works but I think it was because I was the youngest teacher around.  Oh and also, my benefits were pretty good back then(10 yrs ago), not so sure anymore.

I think your experience is entirely dependent on the particular school and administration. I taught for the past three years at the same school, but every year was completely different. I also had different administration each year and taught a different grade each year, which made a huge impact on my experience. Oh, and in terms of money, various leadership positions also allow for small stipends. i.e. being an after school club sponsor, grade level chair, etc.
