OK I need your HONEST opinions

The more I look at the pis of the calligraphy the more I think I need to order new envelopes and either print them myself or do something different. The invites are so sharp and elegant and I'm starting to think the calligraphy takes it down a notch b/c it looks sort of amateur. (Not Michelles fault)Matt begged me not to do Calligraphy but I didn't listen. Please be honest guys, shoudl I buy new envelopes and print them w/the correct font?

i just replied to your other post, but i think you should keep them as-is. guests are going to freak over the paper inside - they're not going to go back and study the calligraphy on the front!
  • edited December 2011
I agree I need to wait and see them in person before I make any decision for sure but I'm thinking they look too amateur and kill the sophistication of the invites themselves. I would lose the $100 I paid for calligraphy and it would cost another $50 for more envelopes and then we would have to print them ourselves but I'm really not sure i like them.once I have them in person I'll know for sure but I feel like we should have just gone w/' a traditional callig font like Alissas if we were gonna do it at all.Grrr...

do not waste your money, traditional callig would contrast with the cool modern sleekness of your invites.

Ok - Truly, I can see what you are saying, BUT I still think that the callig goes perfectly well with your invites. The callig could've been more modern looking... but at the same time, I know I couldn't have ever written that! All in all... I think the calligraphy is stunning and beautiful and so not worth losing $150 over.

I looked all over for samples of "modern calligraphy" but couldn't find anything that would work... so I just went with this one even though I knew it wasn't quite right. Now I"m just unsure if I should start all over again or not. I really don't know... I will see them when they arrive... but I see Alissas and I'm like, Ok THAT looks like she paid for Calligraphy. This is not a blast on Michelle. She did the font I requested. She did what I asked. I just don't know if I like it in the end. I thought I did at first but now I wonder if it looks too homemade.Sigh

Hi are you the one who said do not hire J morgan flowers?  What happened? did you already have your wedding?  We were thinking about moving forward with them tomorrow.  Please let me know what your experience was :(
  • edited December 2011
eek... well I've seen so many negative reviews for her and then there are girls who love her but she has done some psycho type things here on the board to the girls... she posts under a fake name and harrasses knotties so I just don't trust her. Also she did a wedding a while back and the flowers were awful and the bouquets really small.Honestly though, I am just really turned off by her attack on people. Very unprofessional. Sorry. Just being honest.
  • edited December 2011
Okay no! Honestly, you have to think about it like this: You know the difference between all these styles of lettering and all that because you're currently wedding-involved. Any guest to your wedding will get your envelope and rip it open without giving the lettering a SECOND look! Really and truly, you will be wasting your money by re doing everything. Don't do it. Leave it as is, it will not even matter in the long run. I'll share a personal experience with you... So that you know I'm not just talking outta my butt here. I'm a VERY nitpicky OCD perfectionist... I have chosen not to double mat my menus to save money on cardstock because even though it looked amazing, no one at ALL will notice it. Most menus will be thrown out. Same goes for invites ... 95% will be garbage. Don't waste your hard earned money on new envelopes.

and her husband had the nerve to tell a knottie that what they were really paying for is "the name" of the florist as if she's some of sort floral vera wang!

agreed about j. morgan - her bouquets always looked very small and i haven't heard good things about her professionalism. there are so many fantastic florists, i think you can find someone who handles themselves more appropriately and will give you really beautiful, full bouquets.

um Croero... your profile says you are MARRIED. Why would you be booking her tomorrow? For what???Either way, she is bad news bears IMO.

Thank you all for your imput.  I am not on here often because everytime I log on they send me to the nest :)  We had to push our wedding date back and so i have gotten a few congratulations emails from the knot telling me i have gratuated to the nest LOL and I can't seem to change my log on info unless i get a new email. Anyway we are getting marred next month and still haven't finalized our flourist.  We were deciding between J Morgan, Dalsimer, and Avant Gardens.  Have you heard anything about these other florist?  I am really in a time crunch and should have made this decision a long time ago.  Any time I have spoken with Jacquline over at J Morgan she as been so nice in fact one of the nicest venders we have dealt with through this whole process, so needess to say I was a little shocked to see your posts, but I appreciate your honesty with what you have heard.  Please let me know if you have heard of either of the other two florist that I mentioned and their reputation.I really came on here to post a question about finding a great hair stylist that will go to you at your home or hotel.  Have you girls heard of any amazing stylist?  I am really nervous about my hair.  I have some awful memories of getting my hair done for proms and homecomings in highschool.  Even though that was ten years ago now I still am scared to get my hair done :(

I looooved Avant Gardens. I was THISS close to booking him. Dalsimer has good reviews too! As for a hair stylist, I love Lutz at OM Beauty. He did a great job on my hair.Alcira gets great reviews too!

How do you look at reviews for example florist? Or hairstylist?  How did you hear about Dalsimer?  Did you have anyone that used them?

Jaime! Are u crazy!!! Because of your pics of your calligraphy... I am seriously thinking of doing mine with Michelle (and ditching my bf's mom that did it for free). Are you kidding?!!! They look AWESOME!
  • edited December 2011
Honestly. Wait. I thouhgt my wold look crappy too and once I lookedat them in person I thought they were stunning and took my breath away.DO NOT ORDER NEW ENVELOPES, AND CREATE A BIGGER HEADACHE FOR YOURSELF. It's an extra expense, and I know you must be a perfectionist like me to even consider doing this but I can gurantee you that nobody will care. seriously. and if you spend the extra $150 bucks and time on something like this you will regret it.

i'm pretty late on this but, i think it looks good.  i understand what it's like to not be 100% satisfied with something, but no one will notice what you've noticed about it.  99.9% won't see it with the same scrutinizing eye and even if they do, they'll forget all about it when they see your amazing invitations :)

I was a little nervous when I initially read the post below but when I saw the pics, I said out loud "Wow, I love them!" and no one was even around. I agree with Alissa, a traditional calligraphy wouldnt have matched your invites. I do not think it makes your invites less sophisticated, in fact I think it matches perfectly.

aww thanks guys! You have helped talk me down for the (ordering new envelopes) ledge... for now. Lol.What would I do without you girls?
  • edited December 2011
Personally I would not do anything additional. I DYI invitations and spent the least amount of money. My friend did my calligraphy for me, and i could of probably had nicer calligraphy, but at the end of the day the only person that will probably keep an invitation is you!I did not want to spend a lot on invitaions or the writing bc I know every wedding invitation (beautiful and ugly) all ended up in the same place...the trash!
